NBC: CIA General Counsel Thought She Made Criminal Referral Based On Whistleblower Info | Talking Points Memo

Barr’s basic arguments are “You didn’t do it right” and “That is not how I interpret the law”. I knew he was a shameless manipulator and a fixer, but he has finally made the transition into full crook. And to all outward appearances, he seems to be totally infected with the FOX virus, which surprised me at first but now I am starting to realize that most of the elected Republicans have it also. I honestly thought most of them were nudge, nudge, wink, wink on that insanity and just found it a useful tool - but the number of true believers is just downright fucking scary.

Honestly, it takes a certain kind of cute to suggest that you can make a criminal referral over the phone.

Thank you.

The nanny nanny boo boo defense. Gotcha.

Wonder if he will resign before testifying? Sondland may not want to be a scapegoat. Ron Johnson certainly did a bit of cya before throwing him under the bus.

That’s true.

But this is the same DoJ that tried to bury the actual whistleblower report without investigating the allegations -and of which mentioned Barr. He still hasn’t come clean on whatever his involvement was with Ukraine.

You made that up right?

Though I did have one cat who loved jalapenos. So it might be possible.

I’d be more concerned about whether he makes it to the hearing and doesn’t actually drown while whitewater-rafting this weekend. From a plane. Over land.

Criminal referral on trump I take it? Good luck with that. Apparently the CIA General Counsel is not aware of DoJ policy that puts the POTUS above and beyond any law whatever.
Which is why anyone at DoJ said “Pfffttt! Take this and shove it”

Food tasters ought to be able to make a pretty penny these days.

Missed this one earlier. So the day is ending in an interesting fashion.

I’d love it if a CIA General Counsel actually did get trump up on charges. That would be a first for sure. But according to a policy (it’s not even law, just a fucking memo that became department policy) he, meaning trump, because of the office he holds…cannot be charged with anything…ever. It’s beyond stupid, it’s not even rational or on sound legal basis but it exists and until Congress does something about it political parties will hide behind it. The DoJ policy is absolutely contrary to the Constitution.

OT - I watched a little squirrel play on a rope in my tree house. He jumped up on top of the rope like a tight rope walker, took some steps, fell to the underside of the rope still clinging on for a few more steps, hopped to the ground, ran back to the top end of the rope and repeated probably 10 times. He was having a blast. I was, too, watching him.

His or her activity had nothing to do with food gathering or avoiding predators or anything other than having fun.

I was in in a bodega buying a couple of things and this was on the screen. I never watch tv news, so I was surprised (and pleased) at the tenor and tone of the reporting. I walked out with another of the customers who also had had her eyes glued on the screen. She was equally surprised and pleased.
