Navy Secretary Blasts Trump For Intervention As He’s Forced Out

Trump has put them all in an impossible situation.

How they each tried to cope with it may be interesting but the real problem is Trump.

I don’t have links available, but he pretty frequently objectifies the bodies of enforcement officers in public events. Always about being awed by the prospect of big, strong men doing terrible things to other people.

If your references come from Rambo movies and the war stories cooks and clerks tell you probably think Gallergar is what the military and war is about. If I was in his unit I’d probably frag the asshole. He killed civilians and his squad had to walk among those civilians the next day. He stabbed a POW in the neck for shits and goggles. What happens to me if I get nabbed?

It doesn’t work like that. His entire unit wanted him in the brig.

The problem that I see really has nothing to do with the murder. Rather, ever since he got off at trial, Gallagher has been swaggering around untouchable, being extremely insubordinate-- latest showing just yesterday. That insubordination was one of the things they had his trident under review for.

Since not so many people murder others or pose for pics with the bodies, that’ll have a low impact on the force. But this?

Shit, if I’m a defense lawyer for anyone, I’m pointing to this as the example of why my client telling their Commander to fuck off can’t possibly be a violation…

If the nation needed a hero in the time of trump we just got one.

He’s a fucking asshole, as well as a war criminal.

Began long ago, apparently, and now with the approbation of the C-in-C.

Trump thinks sadism is being “tough” because he’s a sadist and he has to portray it as a positive thing. If you zoom out, the fascination with brutality and the sexual violence, the targeting of immigrants, it’s all part of a drive to inflict pain on the vulnerable. He lives to inflict pain. That’s all you need to know about Trump. There isn’t anything else there.

  1. The letter sounds more sour grapes to me than a Trump-blasting.
  2. It’s worded in a way that makes it easy to paint him as the bad guy.
  3. Trying to bargain with a psychopath from a position of weakness digs you a deeper hole.

Trump listens to the Fox morning couch sitters who aren’t far removed from J.Fred Muggs from the early days of the Today show instead of military brass who are enlisted to uphold the UCMJ and the Geneva conventions and uphold order and discipline.
You almost wish for a 7 Days in May scenario as being a plausible and sane option.

Based on what I have read Eddie Gallagher sounds like a serial killer. He glory’s in murder. He is exactly what is wrong with the SEALS. The Navy was right to put him away. It was Trumps right to pardon him but to put him back in the SEALS was a disservice to all.

@lastroth Thanks for the catch. It is too early this morning.

No question he’s into violent fantasies. His incitements to violence against protesters at his Nuremberg rallies, and open cheer-leading for violent arrests are obvious tells.

And of course, this all is incubating in the diseased mind of a clear physical coward.

The the kernel or core of what we find ourselves in.
Whether you are Republican with conservative values, a conservative with Evangelical values, or just a sick son of a bitch with authoritarian values Trump will one day disappoint you. You can’t not use Trump, you can only be used by Trump.

But doesn’t it support what’s alleged of the guy? That he does not follow orders and has no respect for his chain of command. Stabbing a kid in the neck is the act of a monster not a soldier. It’s a violation of the Code. But if you don’t give a shit about that code you get out your knife and later insult your superiors.

You don’t pardon this shit.

I don’t pay much attention to this puke or know that much about him. If he’s still active duty he can be taken down for this.

Hardly. It’s well documented that bone spurs give one almost superhero strength, thus the deferments were granted because it was seen as unfair to field a super-soldier against the Vietnamese.

Woe is us… We have a civilian Commander In Chief for very specific reasons, among them a hope that corruption and violations of human decency can be kept to a minimum through oversight and the application of laws, norms and best practices. Where does Bozo the Current Occupant leave this time-honored tradition?

He’s retiring as of the end of November.

A Rambo in his own mind.

Yes but with a caveat. Trump’s all about tough as long as he can do it vicariously. No way he actually goes into the shit. We know the story of his bone spurs. That’s the real man.
