Navy Captain Begs To Isolate Crew As COVID Spreads: ‘Sailors Do Not Need To Die’ | Talking Points Memo

Bless them all. Good job, Captain Crozier, for trying to do what is right for your sailors. I hope your superiors listen to you.

And thanks to the “U.S. Navy Official” who leaked this story so the Trump Administration can’t bury it (literally or figuratively).

This is terrifying. Good on the Captain however, for putting his men and women in front of his career.

“It will enable the carrier and air wing to get back underway as quickly as possible while ensuring the health and safety of our sailors,” Crozier said.

Trump: “So ungrateful! Kamikazes were happy to die for THEIR emperor. Don’t return the call!”

(“I like naval aviators who DON’T get coronavirus, OK?”)

I’m glad it leaked before the afternoon performance, so someone can ask him about it and watch him lie, deflect, and refer it to others. Or he just calls the reporter nasty for questioning him.

MSNBC is reporting on this. They’re testing every sailor, but the testing is not effective. They could test negative in the morning and actually have it later in the day.

What a mess. Close quarters and all surfaces can’t possibly be cleaned well enough every day. Ugh.

Hope he has better luck than this Captain Crozier, Commander of HMS Terror.

Will those numbers add to Trump’s total? Or Guam’s?

Because that’s what’s really important, right?

My dad spent 20 years in the Navy. I am stunned that they haven’t been working to dock & offload crew. Those ships are deathtraps.

Crying.

Maybe I’m misreading the article, but it looks like they took some measures, but then things got much worse.

I’m thinking of the entire fleet. Ships should have gone to skeleton crews long ago.

So, I guess all those College Republicans can look forward to jobs as GOP commissars, assuring that the words and actions of all members of the government are in keeping with the current political imperatives.

The king will behead any messenger with bad news. Only happy, happy talk for the emperor as he hunts for his clothes.

It does not matter how many measures were taken. When you have Trump and his Gang of 52 who will not back you times are tough.
Remember we are here for Trump.
