Navarro Grand Jury Subpoena Signals DOJ Has A New Focus In Its Jan. 6 Investigation - TPM – Talking Points Memo

Is this plausible (Sussman sueing the principals responsible for his prosecution)?

Maybe you’re right. Maybe I am seeing too much “show” for the cameras. Still, I can’t help but notice how many of them really are whack-job nuts. I honestly can’t assume any of them have any base level of intelligence. Maybe that’s being harsh, but it’s also true.

In that case, make a total, blithering idiot.

I couldn’t agree more … I mean, can Biden truly be that naive? And if he’s not, why say it? It just aggravates his base.

“If this is the first grand jury subpoena to a former White House official in this investigation, I’d say it’s an escalation,” Harry Sandick, a former federal prosecutor now in private practice, told TPM."

I’m guessing he’s far from the first subpoena that’s been issued. Someone as insane and bombastic as Navarro isn’t the first person prosecutors bring before the GJ. He’s just the first one to tell everyone he’s been subpoenaed.

I really hate pieces like this one that start out on the assumption that everyone in Democratic leadership is an absolute dumb ass and doesn’t understand how politics works. Our Dem leaders are far from stupid and they’ve repeatedly proven to be pretty brilliant tacticians. It seems fairly obvious that Republicans will eventually obstruct any attempt to address gun violence. I can’t fathom that Dems don’t know that and don’t plan to run on Republicans once again blocking their efforts.

And if they don’t negotiate, then they get slammed as being equally obstructionist, and the GQP scores big political points about how the kRaZy radical Dems won’t work with them.

And whatever happens, there will be voices on boards like this one shrieking about how useless the Corporate Dems are, and how we’re all going to have to take up our guns and, I dunno, spontaneously create armed resistance groups and go all Stalingrad in our towns.

Defeatism is addictive, and the addict brain only cares about that next sweet high of righteousness and martyrdom. Defeatists can’t create any kind of resistance–despite all their big talk otherwise–because they won’t get that hit if action were ever taken to end the reasons for said defeatism.

Mental health care would really help, and I wish more people would avail themselves of it.

Everything aggravates Teh Base–and by “base,” I mean the so-called Progressives, who will shriek in rage no matter what Biden does or does not do. He is, alas, experiencing a little Leon Blum moment here, where the National Front supporters begin undermining the government because he didn’t immediately hand them everything they wanted.

The Left wants an authoritarian government with an absolutist executive just as much as the Right does, only they assure us that their quasi-dictator will use his powers only for good.

Biden saying that McConnell is a reasonable Republican does what exactly? Fools who exactly?

Since you’ve categorized me and told me what kind of government I want, you must know the answer.

Notice that even the nuttiest of the nut bags (Don Jr) quietly went before the 1/6 Committee and testified without incident. The only ones kicking up dust for the most part are those who are mostly doing so for party clout. Even Rudy eventually testified for seven hours. Some of the crazy is an act just as some of the stupid is, but it doesn’t take much intelligence at all to understand what “You could be facing jail time” means.

But he probably is the one who has already made the most public statements confirming the existence of at least two criminal conspiracies.

Lock 'em all up - forever. What is the over-under on Navarro actually showing up ? If he tells a GJ what he talked to Trump about - it could be game-over for the whole Trump clusterfuck. MSNBC’s Melber got Navarro to talk about the “Green Bay Sweep” in such detail, the DoJ could not ignor it. Navarro was crazy to think it was legal, but everyone who understands the law KNOWS it was the description of a Coup. Now a Judge is going to hear the whole story in a Courtroom. Thank God.

Question mark?

“Peter Navarro? Never heard of him. My name? Oh, I’m Ron Vara. If that Navarro character shows up, I’ll tell him you’re looking for him!”

I think the distinction with the J6 committee witnesses has more to do with who entered into the criminal conspiracy and who only witnessed it. Rudy testifying is an obvious exception, but Rudy is not afraid to lie and is probably too broke to fight it much.

A judge will hear nothing involving Navarro unless and until he’s indicted

(I think I’m right Txlawyer…)

Navarro actually has a Masters in Public Administration from Harvard’s JFK school (1979).

Does Navarro realize his lawsuit is BS? Is he angling for a “diminished skills” defense? Or is this more proof that the Ivy League’s reputation needs to be reassessed?

So if petey no-shows on thursday, what happens next? Bench warrant and explainy to the judge, who then enslammerates him until he is willing to appear? Or do the marshals just frogmarch him directly to the grand jury room?
