A lot of people have chosen this quote to highlight, and I believe this guy is right in a wrong way. The overt violent racism is a heritage thing down south. It is a large part of historical Southern culture, and people who deny it are like goldfish denying the existence of water.
It is getting to the point with these guys that “heritage” is the new dog whistle for racism They accuse people of denying their “heritage” - but what is really happening is they are denying the ingrained racism of said “heritage”.

They might have a point about defunding NASCAR but that might be a bit obtuse for the average fan who thinks it’s only “the poors” and “immigrants” who get federal largess.

Sorta OT. How is using an image of the American Flag as a mask (aka snot rag) respectful?
It’s like welders and others using the flag as a “do rag” on their heads.
I just find it dumb.
‘Defund NASCAR’ is exactly what the sponsors are threatening if they don’t get rid of the racist flag.

Systemic racism and heritage do go hand-in-hand, one must agree, but it’s more structural than transparent; transparency implies everyone sees it for what it when mostly they live it unthinkingly and do not like having it pointed out at all.
