House Judiciary Chair Jerry Nadler (D-NY) sent President Donald Trump a letter on Friday informing him that he now has until December 6 to decide whether White House legal counsel will participate in the committee’s upcoming impeachment proceedings.
Why move the goal posts? This makes no sense to me whatsoever. Telegraphing malleability before the whole thing starts seems like a bad idea.
I second-guess Nadler on every decision heretoforward.

Why extend the deadline for an answer that will never come? The son-of-a-bitch already said he wasn’t going to participate in the “illegal inquiry” yada yada yada.
It’s almost analogous to extending the deadline for Dahmer to quit eating his boyfriends or Gacy to quit killing kids. I mean, what is the point? He’s completely lawless, and that ain’t gonna change.
There has to be a reason for this move.
The Jerry & Nancy Show is about to be released and trump is trapped in a corner. He is running out of new lingo’s to muddy up the water and quite possibility enough gop senators are beginning to send signals that is totally freaking him out.

I don’t know if there is such a witness, but Nadler is closing the door on any whining and demands for backsies caused by events prior to Dec 6. (they’ll whine anyways, but look even more pathetic than usual)
This is not a weak move, this is not an arbitrary move, this is a smart We gave you every opportunity and still… move.
Given that the 1st fall on the Sunday of a holiday weekend (and I fully realize that the people who need to respond are in place and that this is their job and nothing should be more important in their history of work) it is not a sign of feckless chairmanship to extend the deadline to the end of the week.
Now, if the deadline is further extended, then I’ll go batshit but I’m not there with this single move.
Crossing t’s, dotting i’s. Nadler makes a courtesy extension…then he can add it articles of impeachment for obstruction when no one from WH responds.
I am remaining fully optimistic that Mr. Nadler is simply offering to supply extra quantities of rope for the eventual hanging. The more opportunities provided to the Trump Crime Family to participate just shoots the “unfair” “witch hunt” bleating square in the ass.
Nadler is not the person to be chairing this hearing. Think back to the way he allowed Lewandoski to rant and roam at free will when he appeared before the Judiciary Committee. Then compare that to the way Schiff took command of the recent Intelligence Committee hearings. Somehow, someway, Pelosi has to find a way to put someone else in charge next week.
More likely because the Courts gave Trump 7 days to respond to provide a written appeal of the decision on McGahn. And while they have indicated they will, I am not sure they have actually filed the paperwork yet. The 7 days would have landed after Nadler’s original date. The new date is just the end of that week.
Heretofore I have not been a fan of Jerry Nadler. But I am in agreement with many of the up-thread comments. Nadler would not be extending this extension without a conference with Schiff and Pelosi.
Nancy Pelosi has had detractors. Adam Schiff has had detractors. Now it is Jerry Nadler’s turn on the hot seat. My prediction is that he will rise to the challenge in ways we do not foresee. These are the times that take the full measure of men and women who lead. So far, Democratic leadership is measuring up just fine.
