“Forget about it, Jake. it’s Idaho” is something I’ve been saying to myself for 23 years after having escaped the state. I spent 24 years of my life there and almost weekly am reminded why I would never move back.
Congress has no Constitutional basis for legislating for or against or on behalf of anyone or anything except the pregnant woman. She votes, She pays taxes, She delegates what power government bureaucrats can exercise.
Are they going to take in refugees from Idaho? Are they planning to do a population exchange, sending their wingnuts to Idaho and taking in Idaho’s endangered sane people?
Ukrainians want freedom. They’re willing to die for it. Gov of idaho recognizes that he’s helping take freedom from women. He’s not willing to leave a pen unused on his desk for them.
Gosh, in Idaho, a 14 year old girl can lie back and enjoy it AND get sued by the parents who turned their son into a rapist. So many prospects for young women these days.
Fuck his ass. The only truly unintended consequence of this sort of legislation is the possibility that it might be weaponized against gun rights, but I am confident that the SCOTUS will figure out how to declare such laws unconstitutional while preserving vigilante justice in the area of abortion. Everything else the governor pretends to fret about is absolutely, 100 percent intended by the cretins and slugs who cooked up this legal abomination.
So many good memories with that song, though. We used to sit outside and play it at guitar get-togethers whenever the weather was nice in college. For some reason we had a joke about Private Idaho being a person’s name and rank but I have no idea what the origin of that one was.
B-52’s first two albums were great. Ricky’s death sucked, and never really got behind the “Love Shack” re-boot, but maybe that’s me. My wife thinks I hate every band that gets popular-and she’s right about everything.
(Looks over shoulder to see if she’s watching me type)
