MTG And Carlson Rush To Turn Discord Leaker Into Tribal Signifier

A lot of things happened. Here are some of the things. This is TPM’s Morning Memo. That Sure Didn’t Take Long Within hours of the arrest of a 21-year-old air national guardsman Jack Teixeira for allegedly distributing classified info on…

That Sure Didn’t Take Long

I am sure that there are many right wingers and right-leaning Media that have these testimonials all ready to go, they just need to slot in the name; then publish the praise.

Likewise, they had the condemnation ready to go in case it turned out they could tie the guy to Biden some how.

Greg Abbott’s Pardon Target Is Racist Islamophobe

And that’s not a problem for Abbott.

Okay with the latest revelation that Clarence Thomas’s mother is still living in the house, I figure it should only be a matter of time before Clarence tells us this is a reverse mortgage deal. Why not throw Mama under the bus?

ALT-RIGHT PUNK-ASS KID SPILLS SECRETS TO IMPRESS OTHER BOYS

“This afternoon, the FBI arrested a 21-year-old Massachusetts Air National Guardsman in connection with the leaking of classified documents that were posted online. The leaker is described as a lonely young man who is part of a chatroom group that shares a love of guns and military gear. You know how sometimes — you know you find yourself going, ‘It’s always who you least suspect, isn’t it?’ This isn’t one of those times.” — JAMES CORDEN

“Teixeira was taken into custody in Massachusetts, where just moments before, he was seen from a helicopter reading a book on his porch. That book: ‘Solitary Confinement for Dummies.’” — STEPHEN COLBERT

“Now, for taking these classified documents home, Teixeira could face charges under the Espionage Act and could get up to 10 years in prison per document. So he’s in trouble unless he declassified them with his mind.” — STEPHEN COLBERT, referring to a Donald Trump declassification technique

“As a 21-year-old, he’s devastated that this mistake may cost him his future, but he’s also thrilled that he’s posted something online and it totally went viral.” — JAMES CORDEN

“He posted some of the documents in a chatroom for gamers, and I don’t even know how this works. Does someone like write, ‘Hey guys, how do I win in Fortnite?’ and you respond like, ‘I don’t know, but here’s some satellite images of Ukraine.’” — JAMES CORDEN

Greg Abbott’s Pardon Target Is Racist Islamophobe

Certainly with a pardon of this magnitude, anybody with a serious respect for justice would have full and deep understanding of the character of the individual being considered for a pardon by the governor.
So, one can only assume -
“Birds of a feather…”

Except Abbott and the other Texan Republicans may have gone too far with their plans.

Empty Greene:
The far-right congresswoman from Georgia lamented that Teixeira is being treated as a “traitor and criminal”
https://www.rawstory.com/marjorie-taylor-greene-complains-suspected-intel-secrets-leaker-is-being-treated-like-a-traitor-and-criminal/

The always projecting RW vomitarians really upped their cries of ‘Traitor’ after their whole party was involved in trying to overturn an election or overthrow the govt.

So they have been screaming Traitor a lot, with absolutely no evidence…like all of their claims. “Everyone just knows liberals are traitors and pedophiles and the election was stolen. We just know it…”

Yet when we repeatedly, and yet again, get a RW crapbag doing actual Treason with paperwork and evidence and motive…Largemouth Marge leaps to his defense before the fingerprint ink has dried to wail about his horrible treatment and being treated like a criminal.

Well MTG sure is doing her best to make 60 Minutes proud of the exposé they did on her. Sure is being a fighter, defending a criminal little shit who shamelessly and pathetically violated federal law and military protocol! What a stalwart.

Not shocked about Tucker. In line with what his Russian benefactors would tell him to say.

The repressive federal courts, in Amarillo, Texas and the 5th Circuit, and now the Supreme Court itself are showing how they go about redefining women’s personhood.

It’s insane.

Consider some numbers (via POLITICO):

72%: That’s the percentage of Americans who oppose “laws that make it illegal to use or receive through the mail FDA-approved drugs for a medical abortion,” according to extensive recent polling on abortion from PRRI (the Public Religion Research Institute).

63%: That’s the percentage of Americans who oppose “laws that ban abortion after a fetal heartbeat can be detected, usually around the sixth week of pregnancy.”

52%: That’s the percentage of Americans who “oppose restrictions that make it illegal to obtain an abortion after 15 weeks of pregnancy.”

These are bad numbers for Republicans. Whether you are DeSantis signing a six-week ban or Scott (tentatively) supporting a 15-week ban, you are still on the losing side of public opinion. That’s to say nothing of the Republicans who support outright bans, where public support ranges from the single digits to the low 20s, depending on whether there are exceptions for the life of the mother, incest or rape.

Banning medical abortions would be an unmitigated political disaster for Republicans. To get a sense of how obvious this is to politicians, consider two more numbers:

69: That’s the number of Republicans in Congress, including just 11 senators, who signed onto an amicus brief supporting Judge MATTHEW KACSMARYK’s recent ruling banning mifepristone, which has been used for more than 20 years in medical abortions.

240: That’s the number of Democrats, including 50 senators, who signed an amicus brief condemning the Texas ruling.

There’s a reason that nearly all Democrats are loudly opposing Kacsmaryk’s ruling while most Republicans have been hiding from reporters asking questions about it.

In re the Carroll case and who is funding it: I would ask the same of T— in every lawsuit he is or has been involved in. Who pays your legal fees Donnie? The answer, of course, is T----p never pays. He gets his cult members to pony up. It’s worked great for 70+ years. Why stop now?

In other news……

The head of a notorious cyber warfare group has been sent dildos and FBI memorabilia after Ukrainian hackers infiltrated his accounts, reports say. An open-source website claims a Ukrainian hacktivist group called Cyber Resistance breached the email account belonging to Lt. Col. Sergey Morgachev—the leader of Moscow’s “Fancy Bear” hacking group. As well as reportedly uncovering sensitive documents about Morgachev, the Ukrainians decided to carry out a “symbolic act of moral humiliation” by purchasing sex toys and gay pride flags using his card. They also purchased souvenirs emblazoned with the FBI logo in an apparent nod to the fact that he is wanted by the agency over alleged interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

She really is walking up to the line of criminality as her behavior and rhetoric approach one of the definitions of treason.

The “real enemy,” according to Greene, is the Biden administration waging war against Russia. (Your occasional reminder that Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) famously appointed Greene to the Homeland Security Committee.)

The irony of placing her on that committee antagonizes reason.
