Morning Memo: House GOP Leaders Urge ‘No’ Vote On Jan. 6 Select Committee Because Of Course They Are | Talking Points Memo

Please do vote against investigating your own crimes. It’ll be a great commercial against the backdrop of video evidence of your mob’s behavior in the midterms.

This is what gets me. They have to know we’re going to beat them bloody with those clips. They can’t hide from it. It’s an indication of how guilty they know they are that they try.

By making it partisan, they can say it’s a partisan issue.

Well worn territory

I know they won’t do it because the “professionals” don’t think they should or can, but isn’t it about time the Democrats started pushing to rid both the house and the senate of as many Trump Republicans as possible. Are we so wedded to the conventional group think that 2022 is going to be a bad year for Democrats that we can’t even try to target as many of these goons as possible.

Scalease’s description of the Committee sounds like what actually occurred during the Benghazi fiasco…projection is a constant for these deep thinkers…

Well you have to give them credit where it’s due…they have some great spin masters. The GOP has conducted the most partisan investigations in recent history ( Benghazi ) but they’ll pull this off I’m sure.

There’s only one reason any political party…and that goes in spades for the GOP…objects to an investigation. It’s likely to find out shit about them. As long as America buys bullshit like Scalise’s pushing nothing gets better.

My guess is that it’s just consciousness of guilt: they’re aware of what they’re doing and are acting out of their fear of the kind of consequences they expect.

Sir a Mr. Ben Gazi would like to have word with you about partisan agendas, after him a Mr. Jesus would like to discuss his views on hypocrites.

Steve Scalise makes it clear that the GOP objects to history, regardless of whether the history in question occurred in 1619, in January, or in May.
I guess we’re going to be in for a re-writing of the definition of CRT to include anything that gives Republicans a sad.

Hottest temp ever recorded above 45th parallel. They are calling it a once in ten thousand years event. Humans drop in the street.

Well, they have to do something, right? They would like Jan. 6th to go away and be forgotten before the midterms, but they can’t stop this select committee. All they can do is scream partisan! and witch hunt! over and over. They’re giving their constituents some high-grade wingnut performance art, instead of just sulking in the corner.

Well YEAH…we can’t DEFINITELY FIND that you and your band of traitors attacked the Capitol now can we House ‘leaders’??? Oh HELL no.

That would be reverse snow birding…never heard of it. They can come down here. Temps in just the low ninety’s and humidity at at about 85 to 90. Sound inviting?

They’re opposed to people learning about it because they want to repeat it

They don’t care - they can convince their voters of anything.

To wit, now it’s ‘they were just tourists’. No one on the Right can now explain how tourists were not allowed in the Capital due to COVID restrictions, but it was just tourists.

Just like they can’t explain Critical Race Theory. They’ve been told it’s bad. That’s all that matters.
