Moreno Leans Hard Into Misogyny In Close Ohio Sen Race: Why Do Women Over 50 Care About Abortion?

And my 4th great grand-uncle was Winfield Scott, Commanding General of the United States Army and Whig Party candidate in 1852 running against Franklin Pierce, advisor to Abraham Lincoln during the American Civil War and architect of the Anaconda Plan.

He also supervised the forced removal of Indigenous Americans from their homelands to Oklahoma along the Trail of Tears

“Principled Republican” is a slippery slope that depends to a great extent on which stories we choose to tell and which ones we choose to leave out.

Of course. But that doesn’t change what ay ancestors fought for. Abolition and women’s suffrage aren’t worth fighting for? And certainly doesn’t erase the acts off George Wallace et al. Mayor Daley of Chicago, whom I was quite familiar with. The North wasn’t without blemish, but the old South? Give me a break.

The Republican Party of 1856 morphed into the Democratic Party.

“Big government began with President Lincoln’s Republican Party, which in fundamental ways is the progenitor of the modern Democratic Party of President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Lincoln’s party was not one of small, non-intrusive government, minimal taxation, traditional social mores, and white supremacy. It was the party of strong federal intervention and moral directive against the institution of slavery and Southern secession, the party of federally funded higher education, federally funded national transportation, and social welfare. The radical Republicans of Lincoln’s Party with their reform zeal and moral interventionist vision would be to the left of Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren.”

There is no rest for you, older ladies! If you were fortunate enough to survive covid unscathed, you will now spend the rest of your life providing free babysitting.

This. Republicans can’t fathom why anyone would care about anyone else. Hey, even if they don’t have any relatives of a child-bearing age, maybe they just don’t want to live in a dystopian world where women are bleeding out on the sidewalk and families can’t decide how many children they will have.

Lots of women can still get pregnant over 50.

Lots of women over 50 have children they care about and want them to have access to healthcare.

Lots of women over 50 have empathy and, even if abortion doesn’t affect them personally, they still want people to have access to healthcare.

Only a conservative would ask the question “why should this person care about such-and-so topic?” because conservatives have no empathy and literally cannot understand why anyone would care about anything that does not directly affect them.

hehehehe…little do 'they ’ know…while we are baby-sitting we are thinking up ways to get even whith the fools that thnk they make the rules. i’ve always said older women would be the best spies , ever, no-one notices us, ever, or listens to us…as we go quietly about wherever we want to go…older men could do it also, but some men have a tendency/ need to run their mouths…like a certain 78 yr old fool we know all too well.

Let’s hope a lot of Republicans have their asses handed to them this election. I know that a lot of states are in play that probably shouldn’t be. Texas and Florida might go blue. Don’t sleep on Missouri, its abortion measure is on the ballot and female turnout will be off the charts. Thomas, Alito, Roberts and the gang are about to learn you don’t take rights away from people without paying a big price.
