A good start. Now let’s see companies and associations cancelling their conventions and other events.
Pepsi is headquartered in Harrison, NY, and I’m sure they’re capable of handling any increased production should a fast food firm drop Coke.
Diversity on the field is one thing. How about diversity in the front offices?
I would wager than the majority of MLB players who voted last year cast their ballots for Trump. It’s a very conservative pool of athletes.
Are you sure it wasn’t an eephus?
They could have separate but equal All-Star games. Or better yet, Black vs. White. The Aarons vs. the Cobbs. Bring back the barnstorming Negro Leagues.
“No Coke! Pepsi! Chip, chip, chip …”
Pepsi has a hell of an angle here to tweak coca colas nose.
Solution: Hit Georgia every place it hurts!
…and boycott every fast food place that serves Coke.
Heck just boycott fast food in general because it’s shitty and bad for your health.
Yes, that’s my sense as well—not nearly as progressive as the NBA and NFL players generally tend to be.
First, the NBA fired Donald Sterling.
Then, the NFL took a knee.
Suddenly NASCAR banned the traitor flag.
If MLB says no to racism, hockey may be the only sport Bigot-Americans have left.
(If you don’t count polo, curling, and Professional League Paintball.)
A great number aren’t american citizens. Tony Clark of the mlbpa is black and that’s why this has juice.
Making a fuss about the Masters is fairway too far.
Its not just Atlanta. Texas and Florida are almost certain to pass similar laws, and those states have teams in Dallas-Ft Worth, Houston, Miami and Tampa.
As president, Trump loved driving a wedge between black players and their mostly white fan base. Now the White House is on the right side of history. White Republicans are not. It will be interesting to see whether justice can prevail.
May I ask why you say that? Is it because they’re all millionaires? Personal knowledge? That they’re socially unaware because they live in a bubble and pretty much DGAF?
Logic seems to dictate they would be as “woke” as any other professional sports players, especially considering their racial makeup.
And the good news is that hockey has a slightly too, er, Yankee feel for many Southerners. It’s almost like – shudder – soccer.
MLB All Star Game Thrown Into Uncertainty After New GA Voting Law
Good, it should be thrown into uncertainty. This voting law should never have been passed. It is not OK to do this in America.
Logic would also dictate that immigrant communities would break heavily for Dems, yet substantial chunks of them are reliable Republican voters.
I think if polo remains, we’re okay. Having attended a polo match in Newport, Rhode Island, I’m convinced that even now, that sport is only relevant to time travelers.
Yes, the Atlanta Braves aren’t even in Atlanta. A few years ago they took a lucrative “field of schemes” package from Cobb county to relocate to Marietta. The city of Atlanta didn’t want to be held hostage and pay up since they already kicked in for the Mercedes Benz Falcons stadium.
This was only 20 years after Turner field (should have been named for Hank Aaron) was repurposed for them after the 1996 Olympic Games. As if structures like that are suddenly outmoded and fall into disrepair after a couple of decades. Historically baseball stadiums have been located at or near city centers but the suits at the Braves claimed that their fan base was heavier just outside the city in the suburbs.
