I feel like there’s a lot of assumptions about why Trump does what he does, but it’s important to remember that his brain is entirely different from that of most of us. That makes it hard for us to predict or understand him accurately, not that you can go inside anyone’s brain. His ADD also affects what he does. I am not criticizing anyone with ADD, in fact there are times I envy the energy, but as with all types of people, there are jobs you are better suited for and jobs you should not even consider. The why’s of what he does should not be as important as the what’s because those are the things we know.

Since Walz is not running for Governor again, he can react to the exegencies of the moment without worrying about the impact on any future campaign. Because he is not preserving the future, he can maximize the present. (Politicians, in general, only trade in futures: therefore, a lame duck is a powerful duck in the present and a non-duck in the future).

Trump thinks the Justice System and Law Enforcement are for propaganda to cover his lawlessness and threaten his enemies. This has been evident since his first “perfect” phone call with Ukraine.
Greenland - Trump is an economic mercantilist, not a capitalist, like Drake and the Spanish Conquistadors. The goal is to acquire hard, fixed, assets in the form gold and land. Increase in these fixed assets means that adding to my wealth means taking from your wealth. David Cay Johnston has written on this, along with Trump’s belief that we are born with a fixed amount of energy and exercise just uses the energy up faster.
Dangerous anachronisms and scientific quackery are Trump’s brand.

No argument from me, they will suck less than ICE but they are still primarily soldiers, not police. Theoretically a cop should have a different mindset than a soldier, but that’s not the case in the USA anymore due to the militarization of the police.
