Asylum seeker Yazmin Juarez appeared in front of the House Oversight Committee on Wednesday to testify on the death of her 19-month-old child, whose illness was left untreated while they were in the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
⌠Juarez said that an ICE agent had told her, âYou know, this country is for Americans, Trump is my president, and we can take your little girl away from you and lock you in jail.â
As he heard those words, Stephen Miller was overcome by a broad, evil grin, kinda like this:
Would US joining the International Criminal Court require congressional ratification? I think some type of more neutral / world court would be ideal for depoliticizing future prosecution of the Trump criminals from top to bottom. They can prosecute Cheney and the rest of those bastards while theyâre at it.
According to the people around me, she broke the law and should suffer the consequences. So much for their culture of life. Trump is their president too.
I really didnât know that seeking a better life was a capital offense, but damned if he didnât make it possible.
Sometime this morning on NPR one their reporters was interviewing a CBP and union rep. in Texas. He talked about how hard the job has become because theyâre not used to dealing with this amount of migrants. That the people he works for spend their own money on soap and toothbrushes but the employees canât keep up with the demand. Such BS and not nary a challenge by the reporter.
This family separation policy started at the end of 2017, well before Sessions announced it in April of 2018. How long does it take to draw up (excuse the expression) battle plan? Theyâve been ignoring the Flores Settlement Agreement since day one. This maladministration has not once described how they talked to the govâts or NGOs in the northern triangle countries to try and prevent migrants from making the trip. All they have in their toolbox is cruelty and death. Are we certain that all the separated children have #1 been accounted for, #2 reunited with family here or there, and #3 when they were tearing breast feeding infants from their motherâs breast how were they cared for?
There are medical associations at the border that have offered their services and been rebuffed. Donations directly to these detention centers have been rebuffed. Trump wanted more money, Mitch didnât want accountability for that money, and as someone said âMoney and supplies wonât stop retaliation and sexual assault.â
The people who think their president is doing a fine job are unmoved by this kind of story. He has affirmed their belief that we must do everything in our power to prevent all the little white children here in âtheirâ country from coming into contact with those foreign, brown, other-speaking people who bring disease to our border. Nothing heartbreaking to them to see that âweâ kept that mother from getting care for her child, because neither of them deserve it. Sickening lot we live among nowadays.
Unfortunately, thatâs exactly correct. From my discussions, even grandmothers who treasure their grandchildren will happily accept whatâs fed to them on Fox and radio. Try to educate them and get told itâs fake news and obamaâs fault anyway. Hard to live with the fact that this is 40% of the country. Oftentimes, seemingly normal people among us â more than willing to dehumanize children. Ignorant to whatâs being done in our names and callously couldnât care less when you force them to confront reality. Itâs depressing. Very.
Comment on new system⌠1/2 the time I use my Samsung Table the continue the discussion button never appears. Looks like the last line of the last comment is where the break occurs. Of course all the stupid ads and other junk at the bottom of the page is working 100% of the time.
On article subject.
Yea, everything is working fine at our US Concentration Camps. Within all the camps one can find all the amenities of home. You will not find any incidents of illness, abuse or mistreatment. However, if a child is brought in and within a very short time becomes sick then of course they brought it with them and it is the parents fault. The only problem we had was we did not rip the child away fast enough. Iâm sure someone like Jeffrey Epstein would have been more than willing to foster this little girl, he is after all such a fine upstanding man, just ask tRUmp.
Are we certain that all the separated children have #1 been accounted for, Answer NO #2 reunited with family here or there, Answer NO
and #3 when they were tearing breast feeding infants from their motherâs breast how were they cared for? Answer, why should we give a shit
I wish, and hope, the Republicans in Congress could feel the sadness I feel for this mother.
But I believe their cowardly ways will not allow them to admit they have become as low of human scum as their President.
Offspring are only to be protected while inside the mother; once outside, all bets are off.
I hope these God-fearing types get the right God to give them justice.
This and other abuses reported today by NBC news (sexual assault of a 15 yr old girl by a CBP employee among other things.) are cruel and inhumane beyond words. How can anyone who calls themselves a Christian continue to rationalize this contemptible behavior?
I canât understand it. I also canât understand why religious leaders arenât banding together and staging massive protests. Their voices would carry weight. They wouldnât need to speak for or against either political party - just scream that no oneâs god can allow this mistreatment to continue.
Youâre right - churches have compromised many of their basic beliefs and values just to keep their âanti-abortionâ status. The young priest in our (liberal) campus parish tried saying that supporting life meant working so that every child not only had food, medicine, a place to live and the chance for a decent education, but also was born to parents who could emotionally support the child. They transferred him out.
Well, you know there are two types of Christians; those who believe in the message from Jesus of Nazareth, and those stuck at Leviticus, not getting anywhere near the Jesus message.
Thatâs the whole point. You are expected to go back to Guatemala and tell everybody of the horrors. For Stephen Miller is both anti-immigration policy and private pleasure.
Now I do have to say, Central American migrants have never been treated worse, and yet they are coming in record numbers, is Soros just trying to piss Trump?
