Michigan’s Largest County Reverses Course, Certifies Election Results

He’s a freak, almost non-human in his inversion of basic values, like Bizarro Superman.

Trump campaign attorney Jenna Ellis griped about the certification on Fox News, claiming that the board had been pressured by “mob rule.”

This is what they think of voters.

So are to expect this ratfuckery in all the swing states? Is this “refusal to certify” now the new normal in blue counties?

Yep …that’s the guy. …right out in the open ugly bigotry … the kind who starts teaching their kids to hate people who are different before they even learn to walk.
The kind who will give a thumbs up to whatever comes out of a white community … but will reject the election results from a minority community … just cause he “ain’t sure that it is quite right … and just cause he can” …his resignation should be submitted in 24 hours!

Well, my wife, who is from a small town in MI called Howell, always tells me some of the worst racism in America is smoldering right in her home county of Livingston in MI.

This story had me worried all last night. I thought it was probably the opening shot in an effort by the Republican Michigan legislature to overturn the election. After all they are trying to impeach Whitmer.

Imagine my relief when I saw Josh’s post this morning. Maybe there is some hope for all of us.

It got me thinking. Most of the people trying to overturn the election only hear one side. They are being lied too by their media sources. I bet the two Republicans thought they were going to be hailed as heroes for disenfranchising hundreds of thousands of Detroit voters. They must have been surprised at the response from the public to their move.

The problem is not Trump. It’s the GOP. They don’t believe in democracy.

I am sure some will be tempted … but probably in most cases the people at the next step up will say " do not toss that crap in our lap … we appreciate the sentiment… but we will be forced to clean it up …outright overturning an election is a bridge too far for us … so cut it out!"

I do not understand why they did this. Either the republicans want something on the record to use as a talking point or these guys really thought they would toss out the votes in Detroit. I want to know who told them they could legally do this act.
They should have just said they could not certify any of the votes cast for Biden, but all of them for trump. That would have at least not been as racist and would make as much sense.
It is clear when someone acts on what trump says, that person does not come out in a positive way.

This is so typical of regional counties with a big Metro in it…over representation by Rs. This is why R states own numberous valuable D city assets that feed them disproportionate tax revenue from the cities also.

In other words, why on God’s green earth is the board 2/2 when obviously there is absolutely no semblance of fair representation by population. If it were, Detroit would have over a third of the votes by itself in Wayne County.

Lots more info here. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/michigan-election-results-wayne-county-certifies-deadlock/

Short version: every county in MI had minor discrepancies. The two republican canvassing board members for the biggest county which is Wayne (Detroit), decided to get the vapors over this issue, this election. The GOP had previously tried to get a judge to order the counts invalidated over this; the judge wasn’t having it.

The second approach they’ve taken - to certify and then review the issues - is the proper approach. I suspect every election in every precinct does a post-mortem to figure out and correct any issue that crept up in the recent election. This is normal process and doesn’t surprise me.

The two GOPpers should re-read their job descriptions to remind themselves that they’re supposed to be non-partisan for something this simple. If they can’t do the job, then they should either resign or be fired. End of story.

Yes, I think we see a new dawn on the horizon. If Dems EVER investigated and made such a stink when crimin’ is being done by Republicans there wouldn’t be any of them left to run for office. How is it when we hear of the crap that Reptiles pull (Deibold voting machines) it is only hot air, or when boxes of votes are magically produced (exactly when/where they are needed most) by Snott Wanker allies, or when NC ballot harvesters are caught altering votes with the help of elected R officials (and the R candidate), nothing EVER happens? Oh, well in NC, when they catch Rs actually flipping votes, they get to have a new R candidate and a do-over?

Now we see that Rs will crawl over broken glass and dash whole careers in attempts to do ANYTHING that will fukk an election, for weeks and weeks after an election that has no irregularities whatsoever. Get used to it, whole states will come down to a Draw Of The Judge.

And Chump jumps on the Detroit thing before it is even settled, cheers the obvious illegality, and says America should Stand Proud. Talk about Bizzarro world.

You’re lucky. I almost became physically sick when I heard of what was happening. Too many potential problems like this with the way things are currently conducted. Luckily, the “Holy Trinity” in Michigan–Whitmer, Nessel, and Benson—know what they’re doing and were mostly unruffled and confident that this was more showboating than a serious threat. At least they gave that impression.

Having been an insider to the election process in this recent election, I appreciate the insider viewpoint that tends to take the noise out of the reality.

One way or another, that canvassing board is going to have a different makeup in 2022.

Democracy / majority rule was cool …

… until their status as “the dominant majority” began to decline …
Hence - statements like -
“If everyone gets to vote… a Republican will never be elected again”
