The unending flow of catastrophe from the 2010 midterm never abates. So much blame to go around. The just flat-out dropping of OFA amid all the crisis, chaos and carnage of Bush. Jane Hamsher and all her little pals who did so much to sow division. The endless complacency of Democratic voters who sat it out because they figured it was in the bag and the stupidity of the ones who felt like withholding votes was a rational means of registering dissatisfaction. SCOTUS and Citizens United. The Kochs. And, above all, the imbecilic willful credulousness of the MSM who spent a year and a half drooling and gushing and gooing over Teh Teeeee Parteeeee! Teh most freshist, grass-rootiest, authenticest movement evah!
Even Trump’s election was less catastrophic than 2010.
Sure but what I’m trying to say is it’s trippy that they’re doing the exact thing they claim to be stopping and a whole swathe of the population nods its collective head and says yes, we need to rig the elections in order to keep the elections from being rigged, like in a damn Pirandello play. It’s insane.
Agree, though unfortunately Elder cannot be recalled. California law requires a certain period in office first, by which time it will be a new election. That said, while the Feinstein thing could be a disaster, I fully expect Elder to be a lame duck assuming Newsom loses.
See also CA recall election I am not hopeful that Gavin “overwheening ambition in vaguely human form” Newsom (h/t WaPo) will survive, unfortunately, even with everyone getting a ballot by mail, so we’re going to end up with a R nutjob, who possibly will get to appoint a R successor to Feinstein.
And Make no fucking mistake: WaPo is lashing out because of just how fucking wrong they have been and remain and how recently they were proven to be completely and utterly full of shit…
Yep…sure could’ve left a force there to assist all those Afghan soldiers we trained who folded like napkins the second they knew we were leaving. That obviously would’ve worked ever so well…
Fuck these WaPo twits. They need to be shamed mercilessly, but they won’t be.
5 or 6 times right wingers have circulated petitions to get a recall of Newsom on the ballot. And I thought I heard that one attempt was tried shortly after he took office.
The concept isn’t new. The sheer blatancy (is that a word?) of it all is novel, though. Previous practitioners of The Big Lie at least felt the need to be somewhat coy about it.
GOP consultant Jamie Roe told Bridge Michigan, “What we are trying to do here is just restore the confidence and the belief in the integrity of the system.”
And yet to my knowledge Manchin and Sinema haven’t had the curtesy to address the public on why they think what they think. Or how allowing what is happening in Republican controlled states will be a democratic thing. If I were older and there in DC I grab each of them by the scruff of their necks and force them to the microphone to answer the public’s questions.
Here’s what’s going to happen: some civilian fucking yahoo trying to play hero is going to fire on the Taliban while “escorting” a bunch of people he’s duped to their “freedom” and all fucking hell is going to break loose when the Taliban kills every single fucking one of them…
From the WaPo, May 11: The Washington Post has named longtime journalist Sally Buzbee of the Associated Press as its executive editor. Buzbee, AP’s executive editor and senior vice president, will take over leadership of The Post’s nearly 1,000-person newsroom next month. Buzbee, 55, has headed AP’s news operations since 2017, and has been with the organization since she began her career as a journalist in 1988.
Pretty sure you can trace the shift in the WaPo to roughly May 11.
They get absolutely destroyed in the comments to their editorials but that won’t have any effect. As noted in your first attachment from Fox the right wing is pretending the WaPo is a liberal paper and even they have turned against Biden.
