A Michigan man with a history of mental illness was arrested by the FBI on Thursday after he allegedly made threatening comments against federal agents, the LGBT community, and Democratic politicians including President Joe Biden and Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.

Sometimes I wonder if these “mentally disturbed”(1) killers were influenced by their parents saddling them with bizarre names.
(1) I know, I know … no “mentally disturbed” person has ever become violent, much less hurt anyone and it’s an unfair slur on the “differently neurologically abled.” So I’m “language impaired” … or “differently vocabulized.”

The case involves a 30-year-old Sebawaing resident named Randall Robert Berka II, whose mother bought him three long guns and a pistol over the last year despite his history of mental illness. He was involuntarily committed for mental health treatment in 2012 and declared legally incapacitated by the state of Michigan, which prohibited him from owning a gun, according to the criminal complaint.
The mother, however, eventually feared her son’s mental health treatment was not working and grew scared of him — so much so that she cooperated with the FBI in securing criminal charges against her son this week, authorities said.

Among Berka’s statements that raised red flags were:“(H)ey fbi! My name is randall the 2nd and I live in sebewaing Michigan and I am willing to kill these people … I’llkill anyone who tries to take my guns. ANYONE. I AM DONE. TRY TO CONFISCATE THEM FROM ME AND I WILL KILL.”

I can’t figure out if it’s that Republicans align themselves with people like this, or if it’s that people like this align themselves with Republicans. Regardless, they are all peas in the same pod. This type of right-wing extreme ideological violence and the Republican Party always go together.

Berka was allegedly illegally in possession of four guns—three long guns and a pistol–given his history of mental illness and use of illegal drugs. The guns were bought for him over the last year by his mother despite his history of mental illness.
Can his mother be charged for obtaining the guns for him? (yes) Will his mother be charged for obtaining the guns for him?

This is what happens when you base your entire political movement on grievance and conspiracy theories. The mentally ill are susceptible to this sort of thing under normal circumstances and having it drilled into them by the likes of FOX and Alex Jones just pushes them deeper into the hole. While his comments are despicable and he needed to be arrested before he could act on his threats, he really is a victim.
When did parents start treating guns as binkies to keep their disturbed children calm?
