In most instances I do find that objectionable (not that you asked).
It’s one of many points where @littlegirlblue and I agree (although she forgets).

I’d advise not using it:
Among some white people in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Zambia, an insulting term for: a black African.
Or if you see it differently, I’m curious to know why.
Not intrinsically objectionable – after all, it comes from the Arabic term that’s used to refer to someone as a daughter – but still offensive to many around the world who remember that it came into English during war-time when British soldiers stationed in the Middle East went looking for … recreation.
And as you know, cultural memories don’t always fade easily.
