Mesa County is Still Reeling From Election-Denying County Clerk Tina Peters - TPM – Talking Points Memo

We have heard ad nauseum about “ the wheels of justice turning slowly…”

Those wheels need to pick up the pace. So many people who criminally interfered with the
last election are still free to interfere with the upcoming one. If voting is truly a sacred duty then maybe there needs to be a voting rights court dedicated to protecting our elections from cheaters and crooks. We certainly need to strengthen our voting laws when Republicans are in a minority again. I wish the DOJ would take the lead but …

Its part of the authoritarian playbook - destroy credibility of the press, destroy credibility in the justice system, destroy credibility in the election process - And in the chaos created, the Authoritarian Demagogues present themselves as the saviors to fix what they broke.

I’d settle for limiting her access to twinkies.

Ms. Peters worked inside the system, while Lindell did not. If Colorado has a “theft of honest service charge” that needs to be thrown at her.

If you corruptly try to undermine the results of an election because your favored candidate did not win, and then try to fraudulently change the result of the election so that your candidate who lost will become the winner, it’s not “Stopping the Steal”, it’s “Starting the Steal.”

How did Tina Peters become the elections administrator of Mesa County, Colorado in the first place? Was she elected, appointed, or hired? That process should be reformed too.

She and Steve Bannon have the same lawyer?

I think the idea is to make a mess out of our election system that is so goddamned bad any sane person would opt to just burn it all down and start over again instead of trying to fix it. These people are like termites who not only devour the foundations but leave a big steaming pile of shit in its place. Not sure what is going to happen this November, but I am starting to wonder if Trump’s insane followers have rendered the system virtually inoperable. It is like trying to construct a delicate 1000 piece puzzle with angry toddlers.

Can we throw bricks at both of them?

Just asking for clarification.

I don’t think they could have made things nearly this bad without the dedication of McConnell and Republican senators to corrupt the federal judiciary.

One thing we know for sure - they’ll be screeching for months and months at fever pitch if he loses.

I would modify your suggestion with their punishment being to haul bricks and stack them. Think of it like the old time prisoners’ punishment of breaking rocks.

Agreed, the concept is quite straightforward – those rejecting legal and social rules should at the very least not be in charge of applying them – yet here we are.

Sounds eerily similar to when and how the South Carolina traitors attacked Fort Sumter, manned at the time by the American soldiers. The fort was located at the entrance to Charleston Harbor. All the cannons were pointed out toward the ocean, where any foreign invader would necessarily have to come, not from the landward, internal side, where the cannon fire did come. Thus began the Civil War, which I hope never gets renamed Civil War I.

It is a good thing, as it’s a regressive tax. And in fact it covers all foods that are bought for consumption at home. But because cities came to rely on the money, they now face budget shortfalls.

It’s because Peters is playing the delay game. She has gotten her scheduled trial date postponed at least twice. Once, she fired her attorney just before the trial date to force the judge to reschedule.
