McConnell Bucks Trump’s Eagerness To Pardon Jan. 6 Capitol Insurrectionists

Whatever you do, go top shelf all the way. Share it with TFG by first straining it through your kidneys.

No argument from me, just making the point that McConnell is being real mealy mouthed with his word choice.

Perspective: I’m 57, McConnell has been my Senator since I was 21.
OK, except for the few years I lived in other states, but still, I’m a Kentuckian.
Regardless of his his health issues of late, and there are a few, he has amassed an enormous amount of power in Washington and beyond. One thing we can count on is that he will do anything to hold onto that power and continue to Gollum grab for the rest of that golden ring of power until he croaks and no cheesy ass two bit loser from Queens is going get in his way.

I’m sorry. Pretty sure the Geneva Convention banned that shit.

Heh, ok… Senator from KY, just making a point of how long he’s been there and the depth of my dislike for him.

I propose a bus tour sponsored by a brewery. There will be a lot of graves to hit, TDFG, McTurtle, Lady G, Chuckles Assley…

Oh, Vermont here, get the longevity bit, we also pretty much do them for life.

But you got stuck with the really shitty one.

I wouldn’t read that much into how he phrased it. It would be pretty odd to pardon people who didn’t plead guilty and not those who did. And Trump isn’t going to be in a position to do any pardoning, so it’s moot.

Exactly right in earlier comment.
Mitch only referred to those who plead guilty, not to those who are found guilty. Just another reminder about his “misspoken” comment last week about African Americans vs. Americans. Mitch is very precise in the language that he uses
He knows exactly what he’s saying and why he’s saying it.

Welcome!

Yes, he is perfect at saying exactly what he thinks but leaving just enough wiggle room.

“My view is, I would not be in favor of shortening any of the sentences for any of the people who pleaded guilty to crimes,” McConnell continued.
What about the people who didn’t plead guilty but were found guilty anyway, Mitch?

Nonsense. What possible reason could he have for making this as you read it odd remark that has only an infinitesimal chance of mattering? Stop thinking there’s this “ah ha!” secret in a remark he made to reporters who will immediately broadcast it far and wide.

I think it is the same concept as the “dog whistle” we talk about. Mitch always knows who the wider audience is.

Fine. But what the fuck would be the point? Nobody has said why this would be some sort of clever Catch-22 deal and not just a bobble of speech. That “he’s always careful” thing is just an assertion if you can’t say in what way this might benefit him. And the fact is, these people don’t care about little offramps like this. They don’t have to. If they want to say one thing today and another tomorrow, they just do. They know people don’t remember or check. They’ve learned that lesson all too well. Trump would say wildly contradictory things in two consecutive sentences to cheers. For Christ’s sake use your heads.

One of the most upside-down realities during the tRump years is “the who got what the rethugs wanted” factor. While tRump got the shitload of attention he craved McConnell got the tax cuts and federalist judges. America lost on both.

4+ years of ego stroking vs a few critical lifetime appointments. The Turtle needs to be taken down.
