Just remember McCarthy’s speech and attitude once the rioters left the Capital, and the House resumed the electoral count? And then he made a trip MAL a few weeks later, and didn’t vote to impeach Trump a second time.
McCarthy’s evil, or stupidity, is that he will do or saying anything to remain in power-like most Republicans. Every situation is the fault of Dems and their ideals, not bad policy, and certainly not Republicans lack of backbone to stand up to Trump or their owners.

Back in the 70s, my dad worked in a federal prison. I recall he once told us they caught an inmate running a big fraud scheme from prison. Phone IIRC. I was told not tell anyone as the officials were keeping it quiet.
I wonder now how that turned out with regard to “keeping it quiet”. And how many other things might have been buried.

Republicans have threatened holding the debt ceiling hostage so many times I’ve lost count. They’ve backed off eventually on every occasion thus far, but McCarthy is stupid enough, and emboldened enough by idiots like MTG and others in his caucus, to go right over the edge. And while the consequences may be dreadful, we cannot allow a party representing a minority of Americans hold the majority party hostage. If it happens, it’s one hundred percent on Republicans, and Democrats need to state that loudly and frequently.

Once again: the Debt Ceiling is illegal. The United States, according to the Fourteenth Amendment, is not allowed to default on debts incurred. That means once Congress mandates spending, the United States must spend it that way. Anyone threatening to block that needs to be asked why they’re advocating violating the Constitution.

The Republicans have already implemented their plan to save Social Security:
- Make abortion illegal
- Make birth control not quite illegal but ever-subject to the arbitrary, religious
freedomtyranny of every random, rightist, reprobate in a woman’s personal supply chain, from the employer to the insurer, prescriber to pharmacist, and all the way down to the convenience-store clerk who refuses to ring up the rubbers.
The plan is for middle class white women to squeeze out more babies. I am calling them Generation O for “Oopsie.”
