When it comes to Dr. Seuss, McCarthy believes exactly what so many on the right believe.
You can try to correct them by showing them Dr. Seuss Enterprises’ statement, and by telling them that it was entirely Dr. Seuss Enterprises’ decision and right to stop printing six books that they own the rights to. You can try to explain that this isn’t censorship, but it doesn’t matter.
They will shout you down, say you are wrong, and complain that you are part of the problem. I know, because it happened to me this week when I thought that I was only providing accurate information. It was quite a disconcerting experience that caught me completely off guard and unprepared.
