McCarthy Is Off To A Fantastic Start!

He’s not fit to wear Nancy’s shoes.
He will be sadly hilarious.

If you use hereby in a sentence, you have to include irregular capitalization as well.

There are some (admittedly long-shot) paths to governance. Biden has an agenda. He’s got the Senate…but…We cannot have the talented people we put in Congress (I have heard some of their expressions of desire to serve) relegated to sniping on the crazies or (worse) babysitting for them

a post from another thread:

[During Biden’s presidency, Bacon has voted in line with Biden’s position 29.5% of the time.

Following the 2022 midterm elections, and announcements by members of the Freedom Caucus that they would oppose or demand concessions of presumptive House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, Bacon announced he was willing to work with Democrats to elect a moderate Republican, saying “we need to govern. We can’t sit neutral; we can’t have total gridlock for two years”.]

If the GOP takes the House…what do we do with them after January 1.

OT The 2nd Congressional District (in Nebraska) that Don Bacon won voted with Biden in 2020

I agree with you Sparrowhawk, but I don’t get why the Pundits think the Freedom Caucus will, because any 2 other Republicans can be just as intransigent, and vote against anything the FC proposes. There seems to be no acknowledgement of that fact. This type of thinking is why they completely misjudged the midterms.

Kev needs 218 votes to become speaker, he doesn’t have them. And very shortly orange is going steal Kev’s tepid thunder by making his huuuge announcement.

Well Qevin McCarthy can reach over to the Democrats for votes, all he has to do is to promise them is that he would not be giving any committee chairmanships to the likes of MTG and Jim Jordan…

McCarthy is my favorite Republican. May our enemies always be this stupid and cowardly!

Politico reports the vote as 188-31. That is 219 votes - did they let unelected folks vote?

OT…If you wanted to find someone dumber than Hershel Walker…

When they’re distinguishing(!?) themselves as a party led by petulant children, there are few better literary/cinematic examples.

So many of our problems could be solved if Congress was screened by an educated eggdicator…

It is an unhill battle for McCarthy.

Nothing goes well with Perry, my Rep, unless McCarty kisses his ass.

Sen. Rick Scott is running to unseat Minority Leader Mitch McConnell as the top Republican in the Senate, he announced in a note to GOP colleagues Tuesday first obtained by Fox News Digital.

Not just the democrats. I would hope that enough senate Republicans would want to quietly take that particular hostage off the table. Or at least, that their donors would instruct them to do as much
