McCarthy Invokes… Kavanaugh Hearings To Blame Dems For Capitol Attack Security Lapses | Talking Points Memo

The only thing the Kavanaugh imbroglio has in common with the insurrection of 1/6 is I wonder about the FBI’s involvement in both those situations. We already know they failed to do a proper investigation of Kavanaugh, instead turning the tips generated by the henhouse over to the fox.

ETA: And I’m such a moron I failed to note @LeeHarveyGriswold beat me to it….on the very first post of the thread. :disappointed:

McCarthy proves Pelosi right every time he opens his fucking mouth.

Bugs what a maroon

Funny you should mention that. Methinks that ol’ Qev has resurrected interest in the entire process of FBI investigation of Kav.

I remember seeing an ex-FBI-er going on record as expecting a lot more information and thoroughness from Trump’s DOJ.

Qev, in addition to being limited in intellect, is also illogical :face_with_monocle:

One has to wonder: what is prompting him to go out there and rant? It just reminds people of it. Is it Trump? Because if so, then McCarthy is simply beyond stupid.

You know, the comparison to the BLM protests was scurrilous and absurd, but hell, at least there were a few flareups of actual trouble here and there during them. At some points you wouldn’t have wanted an elderly relative or small child to be on the scene. Mostly not, of course, but now and then.

This—wow. Just wow. The Kavanaugh hearings. Sure, some people got a little shouty, including the nominee, but I struggle to understand what “line” was broken such that the Democrats are responsible for January 6. You keep digging down to find any trace of an actual argument and there just isn’t one. The line was broken. The police line. Was broken. What’s a police line? What happens when it breaks?

Listen, Kevin. We’re going to find out why the National Guard and other reinforcements weren’t rushed to the Capitol within minutes of the situation becoming worrisome. And what we’re going to find isn’t that it’s all the Democrats’ fault. You know this, you slow-witted lying sack.

But…the Kavanaugh hearings were held when Republicans controlled both the House and the Senate. That’s…why…what?

“Yes, it does rest with them,” McCarthy said, referring to Democrats. “Jan. 6 should not have happened. Those Capitol Police officers should not have had to go through what they did.

This is a tell about how effective those hearings were yesterday in that Kevin is groping to get on the right side of public sentiment and decency. Isn’t he the same guy that blew off Officer Fanone?

But he wouldn’t be Kevin if he wasn’t a day late and a dollar short. How is it he even looks dumb in every photo I’ve seen of him? It’s uncanny.

There’s a fine line between clever and stupid. Qevin steps over the line and falls over most of the time.

For those who may have forgotten, Brett Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court Hearings in 2018 were FILLED with drama…HOW MUCH? Here is a 50-page brief synopsis…if you need more depth, more information is readily available.

I’m not getting this. Qev is underwater in his district. Does he think Fat Donnie’s blessing will change that? Fat Donnie is not going to endorse him for Speaker. He’ll choose either Scalise or Stefanik. It’s probably moot; they won’t win the House.

Republicans always need a counter-narrative to whatever the Dems are doing. They also need to test the messaging to see if it gets picked up by Fox and the rest of the RWNJ mediasphere. The latest trial balloon is that Pelosi is to blame for 1/6 because it was her job to beef up security.

What’s fascinating is that McCarthy is actually going against Trump here, saying 1/6 should not have happened. He’s blaming a lack of police presence, but he’s still inferring it was a bad thing. That’s necessary in order to blame Pelosi, but it’s definitely not what Trump wants to hear from any Republican. I wonder if he can keep this up, or if he’ll get a call from Trump to knock off saying 1/6 was bad.

Yeah, I don’t recall how Nancy voted on the Kavanaught nomination, which was run by Moscow Mitch the Oathbreaker McConnell.

I guess that one dark haired woman was lecturing Flake the whole time he was standing there in the elevator. Which was kinda impolite of her to do, but, you know, sometimes people need to get told. But did you see the fear on his face, or the blond woman next to him? Did you see the blond lady, who is his aide I imagine, get squished by the elevator door, that Flake kept open so the lady could finish up her lecture?

Yeah, me either.

To be absolutely fair, Kevin borrowed Mo’s body armor and wrapped it around his brain so no knowledge can penetrate in or any decent thoughts get out.

is that real?

Like, did a disgruntled intern actually get that on air or is it just photoshopped?

We will never have personal responsibility in this country as long as the Democrats don’t take responsibility for inciting the insurrection to overturn the election of Joe Biden.

Pretty sure it is a photoshop, since if it wasn’t we’d be hearing all sorts of apoplectic GOP folks calling for an end to CSPAN. To paraphrase Faulkner, though, the best photoshop is far more true than any journalism.

Given the GOP penchant for Gerrymandering, it is reasonable to expect Gerrymandered logic as twisted and contorted as the Gerrymandered Districts.
