Although it sounds counterintuitive, the only viable solution to getting a nationwide anti-gerrymanding solution is to elect vast majorities of Democrats, even if it requires gerrymanding some blue states. There is a reason why the independent redistricting commissions have been created in mostly blue (and some purple) states:

Democrats take this seriously and would very likely implement nationwide anti-gerrymanding if they could do so in a way that doesn’t leave them vulnerable to Republican gerrymanding.
You’ll be waiting a very long time (aka forever) for that to happen. Moderation in the modern GOP is dead. We have a few hold-outs like the MD and MA governors, but they have no future in the party.
Best outcome is that the GOP goes the way of the Whigs and a new center-right party rises in their place.
