Paul Manafort, President Donald Trump’s former 2016 campaign manager, was released from prison on Wednesday and will serve his seven-year prison sentence at home to protect himself from the COVID-19 outbreak.
Next he’ll be granted 10 hours a day to commute to and from a job. Then he’ll be lobbying or whatever, getting immersed in politics. In a month he’ll be a Trump campaign adviser.
Once we get the virus cleaned up, can we put him back into prison to serve out the rest of his term? Wouldn’t want people to think there is one justice for Trump’s friends and another, meaner justice for the rest of us poor schnooks.
I have no problem with releasing any of them in response to Covid19. Why should the taxpayers be on the hook for medical care? Only violent offenders should remain in prison. Yes, I would let Maddoff out under similar conditions.
He’ll be conveniently located when Trump pardons him. No need to get him out of prison;’ — he’ll already be lounging about his house, probably wearing his favorite bizarre jackets.
There are certainly Federal minimum security prisons that have nearly zero incidents of infection. FPC Duluth has 412 prisoners. $50 says they have damn near zero infections, and anyone that’s tested positive is in isolation.
Being a Caucasian with friends in high places means never having to say you’re sorry.
Released because of the Covid? Many people are saying that we are number 1 in testing, and death. Other countries are looking at us for advice. Some people even called the president and asked, “Sir, how can we be number 1?” Doesn’t Manafort know this is a hoax?
Perhaps COVID-19 presents a good reason to release Manafort (and Cohen) from prsion. But then, why not release numerous other non-violent inmates for similar reasons? Furthermore, why decide now that Manafort can serve out the remainder of his seven-year prison sentence at home? Why not instead let him serve it out at home until the risk is mitigated, and then send him back to prison? After all, Chislelin’ Trump tells us every day that things will be back to normal any day now.
