A man was shot Monday at a protest against a controversial monument in New Mexico.
The alleged shooter and several others, including armed members of a New Mexico-based militia, were taken into custody at the scene. A few hours after the incident, the Albuquerque Police Department said the shooting victim was in “critical but stable condition.”
These militias are not law enforcement. They are racist vigilantes.
Apparently, the protesters called the police on a number of occasions without any response. not until someone was shot that is.
This is obviously serious, and we can’t be certain of the facts, but that said an anti-racism protester hitting an armed militia wacko with a skateboard is the most 2020 thing yet.

Based on this report the shooter will be given a medal by the local prosecutor and the local police.

Unfortunately, it is going to take numerous incidents like this before the government and law enforcement agencies get serious about controlling the gun nuts. We probably won’t see anything getting done at the federal level until the Dems take control of the Justice Department. That means the red states will remain free fire zones until then.
Yeah, my son was the type who managed to go thru a board a week for a while. Those idiots wore their injuries like badges of honor. I gotta say it was fun snowboarding with him. I tried the skateboard once and nearly broke both wrists within seconds.
Yesterday, The Proud Boys or their affiliates were in Seattle harassing people both inside and outside the Capitol Hill protest zone.
These bozos aren’t part of a militia and we need to stop referring to them as such. The New Mexico Civil Guard is nothing more than an idiot club.
Anyone who brings a gun to a civil protest is just hoping for an opportunity to use it. I have a carry permit and would leave my gun at home or locked in my car safe if I were attending a public gathering where I knew emotions would run high. In this case, the guy and his fellow “patriots” went looking for trouble.
I did a public radio piece once on skateboarding and found out how brutal that jumping maneuver, the name escapes me, is to learn. Hell, I’m sure all of it is. Pavement is harder than water and less slippery than snow or ice. ETA: the ollie.
