Making Sense Of The Trump Classified Docs Case

This is how they roll now:
Forced to testify before a grand jury investigating former President Donald Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election in Georgia, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) got some significant financial help from some of his U.S. Senate friends.

Nine of Graham’s Senate colleagues collectively donated $78,000 through their respective leadership PACs to the Lindsey Graham Legal Expense Trust Fund during December, according to a Raw Story analysis of Federal Election Commission records.

Sens. John Barasso (R-WY), James Lankford (R-OK), Mike Crapo (R-ID), John Hoeven (R-ND), John Boozman and Steve Daines (R-MT) all contributed $10,000 to Graham’s legal defense fund through their leadership PACs from Dec. 5 through Dec. 7.

Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) contributed $8,000, while Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and Sen. Kevin Cramer (R-ND) contributed $5,000 each through their leadership PACs.

Maybe I’m just rephrasing what you’re intending here, but I’d key in not on the “government” part, but Congress.

With all the government workers, including NASA astronauts, embedded in SpaceX, it’s closer to a model of how government can be fully successful if only Congress isn’t running amok, funding it for mere months at a time, changing its priorities on a whim, and so on.

Gawdalmighty, we’re going to have to live with Gooper posturing for another SEVEN MONTHS!!! And what will happen? A clean debt ceiling will be passed, and Qevin will lose his Speakership.

So he did appoint two new governors to the Board last year. Now, it is up to them to call for new leadership and get it scheduled for a vote. But they have a group of other governors to convince. The wheels at the USPS go around more and more slowly, and so does the mail delivery. But the rates? Christamighty!

In my first undergrad stint I worked a couple of summers in the oil patch in East Texas. It was hot, muggy too. I know how to shovel very well.

The contractor I worked for was a mean old SOB. He would specifically order the welding trucks with no AC and AM-only radio. I was thrilled when I was upgraded to welder’s assistant to the best welder there. He had the newest truck when AC and AM/FM became standard. We still weren’t supposed to run the AC, but the welder I worked for had leverage and would run it on the way home. Felt luxurious to me.

Everybody used to listen to Paul Harvey back then. At some point that switched to Rush and our nation has suffered since. Paul Harvey at least was folksy and had basic manners.

From cute to, “where do I buy one and how much is it going to set me back”. Also “hey, can I get two so I can set up roving patrols around my property while one is charging”.

Well sure, but nobody is going to wave a magic wand and change how this works. If SpaceX was nationalized then Congress critters would start shifting contracts to local districts. Big aerospace companies like Boeing and Northrop Grumman would want their piece of the action, and they have powerful lobbies in DC.

I think SpaceX is an example of “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.” Nationalizing anything like that is asking for it to be worse than it is now.

Was, maybe. Until the owner decided to become a Russkie agent.

This inexplicable principle applies also to seating in a movie theatre – if you want to concentrate on the film without people’s cell phones lighting up or people having conversations (why not go for coffee instead of a movie?), somebody will sit as close as they can get to you – preferably directly behind you. Go figure.

As I recall very fondly Paul and Linda owned a house in Tucson that was set on some very pretty desert land. They had a caretaker for it because of their traveling lifestyle. Paul was an acquaintance of mine. I met him thru Linda’s first husband Mel See who was a friend of mine.

This also happens to me (5’2"). I think part of the anger is worry for my dog. I am certainly profane in my descriptions of the drivers of said monster vehicles. I have a friend (barely 5 ft. tall) who has kicked and or hit the vehicles. I told her to stop it because if they need compensation so much they spend $65K plus on their giant truck that will never be off pavement or a payment plan, they almost certainly have guns. I think she took my advice. Older women like me have a lot of unexpressed anger.

I go for the last row. So they like to sit right in front of me where their heads can partially block the view.

I’ll go with “a little from column A, and a little from column B” for $200. The fact that he was eventually elected doesn’t give me any reason to believe he passed up a perfect opportunity for some grifting prior to that outcome. It’s not as though he knew he was certain to be elected beforehand, and all those dolla-dolla bills were just passing through his hands in the meantime…

My friend and a companion traveled from Central ME (by motorcycle) to Arizona and stayed with another friend for about a week. She went to Mexico at least 3 times (exam, procedure, follow up visit) over a 7 day period. I’m sure she compared costs - Mexico vs Canada. I’m also sure that the availability of free housing played a part in her decision as did travel to AZ during the winter months.
