It’s OK. I’m from a part of the world that gets 140" of rain a year and the sun sets at 4:30. This is positively bright and sunny.

Mrs. @coimmigrant and I take turns reminding each other that it’s a waste of time and energy to think about what it would take to reach these people.

Apparently, they think they’ve waited long enough now that nobody will understand that it’s still because of Signalgate…

Xi is going to make TSF come to Gy-na to sign the deal and bend the knee to him. They’re just stonewalling until the supply chain starts to hurt the US customer. I thought they said yesterday that all tariffs had to be removed before talks can start?

Let’s be clear: not established yet.

But sure, seems likely.

He used all those up in his first administration (what few he could find). He’s Sid from Toy Story, taking the serious people and tearing them apart for his twisted, temporary amusement until he gets bored and looks for the next person to abuse.

Problem is, this move would get almost no coverage even in the mainstream news media. The Dems held a meant-to-be newsworthy news conference on Trump’s first 100 days, but it was barely covered anywhere. The night before last (maybe two nights ago) the Senate Dems gave speeches late into the night, an event about which my quick google search just now turned up nothing. I was aware of it at all only because Lawrence O’Donnell gave it brief notice as it was underway – he played a portion of the speech Elizabeth Warren had just given and then had her on as a guest.

Even if the MSM covered the Dems in Congress better, Fox and other RW media would continue to ignore them, and the algorithms on social media would continue to shortchange posts about them. Serious news media are overwhelmed by all the Trump/Repub outrages to cover, but they could at least include more in articles about Trump/Repubs Dem responses. I don’t know if that’s the fault of the news people or the Dem pols.

The achievement is the result of almost two years of work on the virus. The Army lab received its first DNA sequencing of the COVID-19 virus in early 2020. Very early on, Walter Reed’s infectious diseases branch decided to focus on making a vaccine that would work against not just the existing strain but all of its potential variants as well.

And it showed promise in clinical studies -

Series of Preclinical Studies Supports the Army’s Pan-Coronavirus Vaccine Development Strategy

A series of recently published preclinical study results show that the Spike Ferritin Nanoparticle (SpFN) COVID-19 vaccine developed by researchers at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research External link (WRAIR) not only elicits a potent immune response but may also provide broad protection against SARS-CoV-2 variants of concern as well as other coronaviruses.

Not just COVID, but other coronaviruses as well. Including what might develop in the future.

I suspect, however, this research has been shut down.

This is a tell as to who tRump really cares about and frankly who he has all along:
(Hint: Its never gonna be you and me)

President Donald Trump pardoned Paul Walczak, a Palm Beach Gardens health care executive convicted of tax evasion for siphoning more than $10.9 million in payroll taxes from the paychecks of doctors and nurses. Prosecutors said he used the money to finance a lavish lifestyle and luxury goods, including a $2 million yacht.

During his April 11 sentencing hearing, U.S. District Judge Kenneth Marra said that letting Walczak walk free “reinforces the perception that the rich get away with it and the poor go to prison.”

The judge sentenced him to 18 months in prison and gave Walczak 90 days to turn himself in. Only 12 of those days elapsed before Trump signed the private pardon.

Walczak is the son of Betsy Fago, a longtime Republican donor who once hosted a fundraiser at her Jupiter mansion where attendees circulated the stolen diary of Joe Biden’s daughter, Ashley.

I wonder if he still has to pay that restitution which is something like $4.4 million, or if that gets him off the hook for that money as well and not just the prison sentence.

Trump Forces Out Signalgate ‘Idiot’ Despite His Epic Suck-Up

National Security Adviser Mike Waltz is exiting his role in President Donald Trump’s cabinet, CBS first reported Thursday.

Waltz, 51, is the first cabinet member to leave his position in Trump’s second term.

The former congressman from Florida faced significant backlash from Trump allies and supporters after he mistakenly added The Atlantic’s Jeffrey Goldberg to a Signal group chat in March.

Also leaving their role is Waltz’s deputy, Alex Wong, reported CBS.

This is a developing story that will be updated.

And, of course, Obama played at Andrews except when he was on vacation, so the cost to the taxpayers was negligible.

Oddly enough I can drive to places that get that kind of rainfall in 3 hours now, or fly home and in about 2 hours to get the rain and at this time of year extra hours of overcast.

I ain’t sure it’s signalgate. Pete posted this yesterday evening.

So at least one of the holdouts came around on going for it with Iran, Waltz might just be leaving so his fingerprints aren’t on that likely clusterfuck.

Palm Beach Weekend: What Really Happened in the Trump Administration is the working title of the first book issued by Maggie Haberman’s publisher in early 2033, a few weeks after Trump’s death early in his fourth term.

It’ll contain all the crimes and disasters of the previous 16-plus years that she knew about but never reported, lest they damage the NYT’s access.
