MA Rep. Tests Positive For Coronavirus After Receiving Second Vaccine Dose | Talking Points Memo

Per a fundamental law of physics, energy can neither be created nor destroyed. But Rudy has shown that dumb shit can be created without limit.

It’s your problem not mine. Stop the insults, please.

Your insult was flagged.

I don’t think that is what the 95% means. I believe that it is that of all the people in the test who got infected 95% were in the placebo group.

That’s some mighty fine legal snark there…

The final paragraph is epic.

That’s true. We are also dealing with small numbers of cases and there is no confidence interval.

I agree with your thoughts. I really wish we would get updates on the vaccinated but asymptomatic positive Congress people. Do they get sick?

He’s a member of the Five Percent club.

Now that’s some plain in your face legal speak that I can understand, which means Rudy doesn’t or won’t.

Pretty much. How Pfizer arrived at their efficacy rating:

The final analysis included 43,661 participants, including 41,135 who received the final dose. Overall vaccine efficacy was 95% in people without earlier COVID-19 infection, and the trial found 170 cases of the disease, 162 in people who received a placebo and 8 in people who received the vaccine. Efficacy in people older than 65 was 94%

Sadly, this story will be used by those opposed to vaccines to convince others not to get it.

Amazing wasn’t it. I got mine Wednesday, wife got her slot on Thursday, appointment on Friday and done and done. My turn around was about 45 minutes. Dropped her off and she did it under 40 minutes despite an extended wait in observation due to possible allergy reactions. UT folks were slick, friendly and I give kudos to the security folks as well in managing traffic and questions.

But now I am left very troubled in how distribution is being managed here in general. Our experience including getting the appointments was exceptional and unexpected. I have never understood why I got the opportunity first. Wife’s was a surprise. We have friends who are trying to figure out how to schedule and their medical providers are not even giving good directions and advice. Read the paper and it is very limited and confusing as well.

I think you’re okay. Obama’s the guy behind the guy.

In this time of Trump lies and 4 years of government sponsored misinformation, it is not wrong to go the extra mile to be precise. In the case of decimal points, people can round up or down as they choose. P&G understood the psychological importance of precision when their ads claimed that Ivory Soap was “99 44/100% pure”.

For which vaccine?

“Refuse at your peril.” Damn.

”…a reminder to those who have recently received vaccinations to remain especially vigilant…”

We can’t even get Americans to be vigilant before they’re vaccinated. Masking, social distancing, and avoiding travel might as well be asking people to shave their heads, paint themselves purple, and bark naked at the moon.

Based on behavior over the Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year holidays, I suspect a significant number of those vaccinated will immediately assume invulnerability, rush to restaurants, and fly cross-country to kiss Grandma.

Frankly, I don’t understand how our healthcare community hasn’t given up, screamed “Screw these idiots!”, and walked off the job by now, given the crushing load they face daily – only to drive home each night, exhausted and in tears, past crowded stores and bars.

The past twelve months of watching so many Americans embody the United States of Toddlers has dealt a critical blow to my faith in our ability to successfully adapt as a species. It only takes a minimal number of superspreader morons to keep us in this perpetual cycle of viral mutation and daily death.

I hope the cockroaches (or bees) manage the role of dominant species better than we have.

(Did I mention I’m available for children’s parties?)

Where did you get that info from?

@mys_lys , you made me read that as “… remains asymptotic …”

Is it just paranoia to think it weird only Democratic members of the House are testing positive? Are Republicans not getting tested or not revealing the positive tests? Seems weird since they’re the ones who keep ignoring protocols.
