Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards (D) is projected to defeat his Trump-endorsed Republican challenger in the state’s gubernatorial runoff election held on Saturday.
Ah, how sweet it is. Are you watching, traitorous GOP senators? See how whoever he personally promotes LOSES? How are you going to avoid it when he wants to campaign with you?
A decisive squeaker of a win. I read that LSU’s win over Alabama made voters happier with the status quo helping the Democrat Edwards. This isn’t a crazy theory.
I’m glad a Democrat prevailed. Delirious, in fact. And I recognize that Bel Edwards has improved the lives of the people of Louisiana in big ways, but he has also signed into law, this year, one of the most draconian anti-abortion laws in the country. This law outlaws any abortion when a fetal heartbeat can be detected with no exception for rape or incest. A fetal heartbeat can be detected as early as six weeks. It’s unconstitutional, but with the current USSC, it may well stand.
And yet, will the NYT, AP and other news outlets repeatedly interview a sample of the diversity of people in the nation’s urban areas to run columns about how Trump and the GOP are out of touch with urban America?
I think an uncomfortable truth for pro choice advocates is that more Democrats would be elected if the Southern states especially had more control over abortion rights.
OT: I feel deprived that TPM didn’t have a story on Trump’s visit to Walter Reed so we could comment. WaPo’s comments on it were hilarious: colonscopy to clear Lindsay’s and Rudy’s head out, stuff him and send him to Kremlin, you get the drift.
“Mr. President*, do you feel that three statewide elections going to Democrats in states you won despite multiple campaign appearances on your part only confirms your status as a total loser? Is it sad?”
