I break out…dunt dunt dunt dunt…in a FLOP sweat!
I posted on another thread yesterday that Republicans are willing to let Trump take their dignity. Enter Lindsay Graham- a man who once correctly called Trump out, then rolled over for belly rubs after Trump released his cell phone number in a press conference forcing Graham to change it. That was in 2016. Today, Graham is a reliable Trump punching bag and fanboy.
It might not be more representative. If a state’s congressional districts are gerrymandered to favor one party, that gerrymander would also affect the electoral college. In a state like Wisconsin or North Carolina, that would mean the state could vote blue and most of the electoral votes would still go to the Republican candidate. As bad as the current system is, it could still be worse.
OK, I LOLed at this.
The current system seems to better represent the voice of the people. Does the GOP have any argument for changing other than it helps them win? As a rural state, their citizens’ votes already count more than those of citizens in more densely populated states. How much of an advantage do they think they deserve?
True, but desperate and anti-American is right up the GOP’s alley.
Allotting EV’s by Congressional district is probably the only worse way than the current way.
Between gerrymandering and the Permanent Apportionment act. Republicans would rig the EV even more.
Now obviously i’m happy to leave NE alone here. But nationally such a process would be a disaster
Speaking as someone who was at the eye of the congressional-district pinwheel when Austin was divvied up so it was part of six different congressional districts*, I can see all sorts of issues with letting red-state politicians determine who gets to be president. Think for a moment who has control of the House right now.
The only fair system would be nation-wide popular vote.
*only one was a Democrat, I think (not mine!).
Every other office is a popular vote in the district/state where you are running.
As president is for whole nation it should be nationwide popular vote.
“HAAAAYYYYY!!!”
Hey Friends,
TFG cancelled his appearance in Bucks County for Sunday.
Interpret as you see fit.
Their internal polling must show that PA is out of reach.
She’s going to win, and win big. Blue Wave down-ticket. GOTV
I’m genuinely surprised by this. While mathematically possible, it’s highly unlikely that he can win without nabbing either Pennsylvania or Michigan and he’s been polling closer to Harris in Pennsylvania … I wonder if he’s ill? I haven’t heard anything indicating that he is, but that seems like such an odd move at this point.
At this point, his last hope is that his minions will steal it in key states and throw it to SCOTUS. It won’t work, but that’s his last hope. Then, he flees.
e/t/a: and yeah: I think he’s ill. Surmise: his cognitive deterioration is very much worse even than what we’re seeing in the staged rallies and “press conferences,” where his pet doctors are shooting him up with a cocktail to make him more-or-less functional for 2 hours.
Lindsey Graham is the Joe Manchin of Nikki Haleys.
I have a feeling this was the plan all along. Wait until it was too late for Maine to retaliate, and then boom, change their system before the election in case that one EC is decisive. I don’t think America has ever had an EC tie, so hopefully we can keep that streak going.
You see the problem here, right? These guys don’t do plans. They do concepts of plans.
Speaking of screwing people, a story just broke — and has been confirmed — that RFK Jr. has been engaging in an extramarital affair with a reporter for New York Magazine who has been covering the campaign,
The reporter is apparently engaged to another political writer and editor. Meanwhile, Cheryl Hines all but trashed her career to back her idiot husband endorsing Trump and joining his campaign, Wonder how she feels now — maybe like she just got metaphorically grabbed by the lady-parts? Only the best people, dontcha know.
What do you bet Sir Crazy of Camelot and Trump try to blame the brain-worm, and claim that the worm, not Kennedy, was the one having the affair?
I wonder if this is why Trump suddenly cancelled his scheduled public appearance tomorrow?
More here:
Do they have something that allows them to be called back in an emergency? If NE really does this, the governor could declare it an immediate issue that needs to be addressed.
I guess we shouldn’t be surprised that Republicans are cheating in whatever way they can…changing the rules at the last minute is poor form, but it’s irrelevant if you want to take power and want to make it look at least somewhat justified. It can backfire though…there is an abortion initiative on the NE ballot, they may get more Democratic voters out than they expect, and if a few Republicans don’t like Trump and don’t like the cheating they just might hold their vote, or even vote for Harris. Sure would be amusing to see NE go blue, even if it’s special circumstances.
Kennedy? I think Trump let him fetch some coffee for him once
