Let The Sh*tshow Commence: Gov. LePage Reemerges With Bid To Take Back Old Seat

The infamous former Maine Gov. Paul LePage (R) is sauntering back to the stage.

LePage, who was term-limited from running for reelection in 2018, filed on Thursday to challenge incumbent Gov. Janet Mills (D) in the state’s 2022 gubernatorial election.

LePage only ever won office because some damn fool Independent twice insisted on running to split the vote.

I’d comment on LePage but the PNW is under a burn ban.

He saw Susie Q re-elected so he knew anything is possible, after all it’s Maine.

It takes serious commitment to out-grotesque Trump but LePage has the chops.

Well they voted Susan Collins in, so…

It’s hard to imagine the fine folks Down East being masochistic enough to give this asshole another go at the brass ring.

Yes, and some equivalent Independent (largely funded by Republicans) will surely be running this time too. LePage is an abomination but a real threat this time too.

Hopefully that independent will do it again and get the asshole back in Office. Personally I think Maine deserves him just as my state ( Florida ) deserves DeSantis. You get the whole package when you vote for a wingnut.

Yesterday I was on eBay looking for an All-Clad D5 French Skillet. I couldn’t find a single seller of them that was not charging Florida Sales Tax ( 7.5 ) on those pans. That is not common. BUT:…it seems the anti-Tax loving DeSantis and his GOP buddies in our legislature have now mandated sales tax for Floridians on all internet purchases.

Did Ronnie state that when he was running? That he was going to shift the tax burden onto folks that shop on eBay? Hell no…enjoy.

The MO lege finally figured out that the state was getting fucked out of so much tax revenue this way too.

Don’t worry. His picture shows that he’s at major risk for a fatal heart attack. Hope he had a big stack of pancakes with lots of butter for breakfast.

I think the recent trauma will compel the opposition to coalesce around a candidate strong enough to prevent a repeat. Anyone but LePage.

However, ranked-choice voting is not used in Maine’s gubernatorial elections.

In any worthwhile endeavor, attention to detail is paramount. Someone f’ed up here.

That someone is, unfortunately, the Maine Constitution. Seems a big hurdle to fix that, but perhaps this threat will spur them to do it.

Thanks, didn’t know that.

Q: Why does LePage always look like he’s going to explode.
A: Because he’s always going to explode.

Whenever I go to Maine to peddle heroin, I always go the extra step and impregnate a young white girl before I leave. But my name is Farnsworth Rutherford and I’m not from Connecticut or New York, nor is my assistant, though he is emphatically a socialist cocksucker little son of a bitch. Impressive how LePage almost got our number.

It’s explained well in the article that’s linked to in the sentence you quoted. I didn’t know about this either, but apparently the wording in the Constitution caused the court to reject RCV for state elections. Which is a real shame since that’s a huge part of why the voters approved it in the first place. But 2/3rds majority is hard to get in order to change it.

In May, 2017, the Maine Supreme Judicial Court ruled in a unanimous opinion that a requirement in the state’s constitution that winners in gubernatorial and legislative general elections receive a “plurality” of the vote prohibits the use of ranked-choice voting in those races.

Is this the same asshole who had the Diego Garcia mural painted or covered over as you walked into Maine’s Dept of Labor lobby (or something like that)? I’m guessing yes. If he wins he’ll give Gov Abbott a run as the nation’s most abusive governor. But then there’s that bitch in SD. Why can’t all the wrong people just go away?
