Horrible. Horrifying. It’s inexcusable that it’s come to this.

I was visiting a hospital in Kenya and doing rounds with a doctor and students. One of the residents was carrying the pair of gloves which were passed to the doctor when she had to touch the patient. I remember how shocked I was. Yet, it seems that we are now there.

Yes. Horrible situation indeed.

With the levels of inequality we have in US, lack of universal health care, and the incompetence and complete shambles of this government in dealing with the pandemic, it is time to question whether we really are exceptional, or indeed a first-world democracy.

The rest of the world must be looking on in shock and awe.

As soon as you take out your providers, then you end up in a death spiral. You and your mortality jumps from 1% to 10%.

The rule No. 1 in a resource-constrained system is keep your providers healthy.

Puts into perspective the effects of running out of PPE, which we are in the US’ hotspots.
