Many of the school districts dealing with outrage over what conservatives have claimed to be “critical race theory” have seen major increases in diversity in recent years
So from the linked NBC reporting the places where white parents are losing their shit over race is because they’re losing the white percentage game. I would add that it’s also economic. If more black, brown, and yellow families are moving into what had been a predominately “white” suburb, with their predominately “white” school then those integrating minorities have the economic power to buy in those neighborhoods.
In the early 80’s my neighborhood like many finally got cable television. Along with the usual fare on basic like CNN, Bravo which had real cultural offerings then as well as ESPN there was the Trinity broadcasting network. I’d occasionally flip over there to see the well coiffed grifters bilking granny. What also amused me was when they would play rock and heavy metal records backwards looking for the satanic messages.
So Hispanic Texans want misogynistic leaders that would like to strip away their health insurance, ignore the pandemic and the affect it has on their lives and the lives of their children, strip away reproductive rights and LGBT rights, limit voting rights, force schools to teach their children slaves were really sorry to see the t13th Amendment passed, and legislate and sign into law a host of other oppressive measures.
That’s because the outcomes are always predetermined, letting people stand in line just keeps them peaceful because they think their vote counts.
So have to applaud elder for skipping right to the point, that the Dems stole the recall, and there will be MAGA v. Vegan Militia in the streets, much tofu will be thrown
Hey - makes sense that Latinos want to “fit in” and thus emulate selfish, ignorant Americans. Wait until they run into some trouble - with the law, finances, house destroyed by floods - and they might discover other unpleasant American truths.
Very happy that this is being pointed out. And the Democratic Party can and should develop a strategy on dealing with the issues mentioned in this article.
I am confident that O’Rourke is aware of the above as well.
Unfortunately there is no downside for them to pull this shit constantly, and they will.
If they lose, they simply unleash their ignorant goon squads onto election officials who will waste their time trying to defend the system.
But if they win, they simply crow that it was their vigilance - and vigilantism - that exposed the fraud and cause the “right” result.
We need to look to Germany for a solution. Germany made Holocaust denial a crime for a reason. Because denying it makes it possible for it to happen again. We need to make it a federal crime to make election fraud claims without proof. I mean, hard time - life sentences. Otherwise, give it three more presidential elections, and the system collapses completely.
At what point does publishing knowingly false information about the election tip over the line into election fraud? Obviously, things like intimidating robocalls or fliers announcing that the election date has been changed will get you into trouble. Funding a fake fraud site (any bets the petition form asks for money) is probably this side of the line unless it explicitly says people shouldn’t bother voting, or advocates violence…
is promoting a website that curiously already states the results of the election even though it, uh, hasn’t started yet!
California mails a ballot to every registered voter, and encourages early voting. So in effect, the recall election started weeks ago, with Tuesday’s turnout likely to be only about 20% of the total vote.
Too many political “scientists” or pundits look at the cultural cohesiveness of the African American community (which has a unique history shaped by the tragedy of American history and law that we’re all aware of) and seek to apply it to all non-white ethnic groups. You just can’t do that to broadly-labeled groups based on the geography of their places of origin. For Asian Americans, the cultural background and experiences of those from India versus those from Vietnam are as different as night and day, so pigeon-holing them all into one “group” for political sampling purposes is a fool’s errand.
The same applies to Latinos in the United States. Country of origin, number of generations since one’s ancestors’ immigration (or annexation into the US), religion - these are all factors which make each Hispanic citizen and community unique. They can’t be lumped together to make an assumption that Anytown USA’s Latin community will vote XX% for Democrats (or Republicans). And to treat them as a political monolith is frankly somewhat insulting.
