National Rifle Association leader Wayne LaPierre said on Sunday that despite what pro-gun control politicians say or have written in draft legislation, the push for universal background checks is really a veiled step toward the government tracking law-abiding American citizens, most likely for nefarious purposes.“I think what they’ll do is turn this universal check on the law-abiding into a universal registry of law-abiding people. And law-abiding people don’t want that. My God, that’s the last thing they want,” LaPierre said on “Fox News Sunday.”
