LA Times Has The Wild Story Of A City Facing Rebellion Over COVID Rules | Talking Points Memo

Okay, haven’t posted this for a while it’s pretty much the first Aussie song I ever learned.

But first, some background:

When we first got down to Oz I was about 12 and stayed for a few weeks with my uncle and his family (there were seven kids, so mum farmed us all out to various relatives until she could get us settled). Uncle Malcolm live in Narrabeen, a northern suburb of Sydney, and at the time they still had the outdoor dunnie where you did your business in a bucket which was emptied once a week. Malcolm thought our reaction to this was a bit funny, so he introduced us to this song, perhaps he thought it would help us all relax and settle in? Yeah, right…

Freedumb. Too many of these idiots in CA. Husband’s cousin lives in a rural part of Redding. Undoubtedly he is red.

OT. It appears that all over the country police officers are choosing not to have the vaccine, In 50 years when books are written about the Pandemic, the virus will still be circulating because of anti-vaxxers.

Can be effective if done right.

But not everyone can pull it off.

Naw, it is not contagious. Most Californians look at Trump as still a dotard, and his followers as mini-dotards.

You know, I worked in the service industry for several years in my late teens and early twenties. And even after I left the service industry for IT, I had a bar I went to most nights for about 15 years in my thirties and late twenties. And during those 25 years I saw about two fights. Total. Over 25 years.

So I guess I’m wondering: Holy shit, Zappata, what the hell are you guys doing in that bar?

It’s good to have a goal in life - in this case cementing your legacy as one of the stupidest people who ever lived.

Unfortunately in a state of 40 million that’s hard to do. Fortunately, we the sentient outnumber them.

Redding is the meth capitol of NorCal. I’ve seen some seriously sketchy folks in that town during very brief visits. Smart hippies up there know to get a CC permit, which is readily available if you just take a safety course.

East California has been full of right-wing crazies for at least a century.

White rural America needs to catch COVID and Make America Great Again with their permanent departures.

You know, these people opposing efforts to mitigate the pandemic are literally assaulting each of us disinterested in getting Covid and suffering or dying from it.
Sure, I’ll give them that there has been no dearth of inept responding even from the best elected officials but refusing to comply with the basic stuff – masks, distancing – please. In excusable. If they don’t care about their lives, when the extend that nihilism to the lives of others, well, it’s a literal attack.

Well, of course, because didn’t jesus say it was ok to threaten violence on anybody who did not follow your stupid dictates? Best thing that could happen is if they infect each other and die, leaving a nice part of California available for sane people.
