Kentucky Lt. Gov. Jenean Hampton said that she voted for the Libertarian candidate over Gov. Matt Bevin (R) in his unsuccessful reelection bid against state Attorney General Andy Beshear (D).
“It makes me sad that he won’t have a second term because he got a lot of things done,” she said.
“It makes me sad to do a little jig on his political grave, it really does,” she said…
“I did not vote for him. I didn’t,” Hampton told local radio station WDRB. “It was his to lose, and he lost it. I couldn’t do it. I just couldn’t. He lost my vote. I’m really sad to say that.”
She’s a “prayer warrior” Republican.
But even she finally had enough of an a-hole at the top, and cast a vote against her party.
It might not have been for a Democrat, but it was against a Republican.
Don’t let anyone tell you that 2020 isn’t winnable.

It was personal for her and not issue-related. Too bad thousands of people in Kentucky didn’t have that luxury.
She apparently sees Bevin’s behavior as a personal betrayal, which it is, but she can’t quite see that the party betrayed Kentucky by supporting this chump.

I’m not Plucky or Valhgal, but I’m a Kentucky native still dancing over Andy’s victory. I said in 2015 that Bevin chose Hampton mostly because she had the Tea Party behind her, but also because he’s a racist and thinks that kind of thing gives him cover.
He dissed and dismissed and demeaned her from Day One. But she should have known better than to trust a repug white boy. Nevertheless, her admission about her vote felt like sweet justice.

This gives me the feels. Dems are unusually good at beating themselves up, but it is 100% true that if Dems show up in force and vote in 2020 we can send tRump and his corrupt minions packing. And once tRump isn’t POTUS, we can begin criminal proceedings against him and his feckless children.
ETA: And it does not matter to me one tiny bit who the 2020 Dem Pres nominee is. I have candidates that I prefer over other candidates, but once the nominee is chosen I will support him/her heart and soul. Any Dem is orders of magnitude better than tRump. Not to get all preachy, but we Dems need to get that into our heads now and stop with the horse race politics bullshit and stop letting perfect be the enemy of the good.

Perfect example of what it takes for prayer warrior evangelical women to realize that the prayer warrior evangelical men in their lives don’t give a fuck about them other than a means to their ends.
She was okay with that because she was one step from the power. We see the same thing with Pence.
Look, we all can smell the stink coming off these Republicans. She chose to ignore it it because she’s different, an independent thinker, not like the rest of us sheeple living on the Dem plantation. That’s the Republican message to African Americans- you’re dumb slaves to Democrats, and if you were just smart enough to join us (just ignore the racists and racist comments and policies) you will be better off. Hampton got what she deserved.
It’s good to see she voted against Bevin, but she still is so in the tank that she couldn’t vote for a Dem.Maybe she has some future plans to run for office?
