Kennedy Schools DHS Sec On Coronavirus | Talking Points Memo

Imagine the existing capacity for intensive care patients being overwhelmed by people with compromised respiratory systems who have this communicable disease. It would be a nightmare. This is what they should have been planning for all along. This is what everyone should have been thinking about when Trump was saying how easily he could fix everything and make it perfect with his genius brain.

CDC disagrees, and yes, it will be on Rs who shout and strut at everyone but the CIC.

CDC says Americans should prepare for virus: With coronavirus now spreading community-wide in multiple countries, including parts of Europe, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says the world is on the cusp of a pandemic and advises that Americans begin preparing now for the virus to circulate here. “Ultimately we expect we will see community spread in this country,” said Dr. Nancy Messonnier, director of the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases with the CDC. “It’s not a question of if, but when, and how many people in this country will have severe illness.” She said the world was “closer to definition of pandemic.

He’s one of the few Republicans who every once in a while actually looks like he’s working in the public’s interest and isn’t just another self-serving douche. Then you find out he’s fucking your girlfriend.

Terrified of that, or terrified that he’s the demographic that coronavirus is most fatal for, and if an outbreak hits D.C., the Senate might be much smaller?

This is America, no nasty coronavirus will dare touch us so we’ve got our heads in the sand as we sing, lalalalalalala.
If this does catch on here, there will be huge wide spread panic like in China but it’s really hard to imagine this govt. would quarantine people like China has. Sure hope it doesn’t come, but you’ve got to be prepared.

Trump is all about quarantining. He’s famously a germophobe, and you know his general tendencies.

"Your numbers aren’t the same as CDC’s. "

Know who’s most likely to die in all this? Kids. Your kid get to die because a viral pandemic is inconvenient publicity for Trump’s re-election campaign.

“The American people deserve some straight answers on the coronavirus…”

“…but not about Russia interfering in our elections to help the POTUS from my party!!!”

“Don’t you think you ought to check on that? You’re the secretary,” Kennedy said. “I think you ought to know that answer.”
Wolf angrily replied “HEY! I was chosen because of my willingness to cower before a traitorous fraud! Not because of some pencilneck’s concern’s about fake pandemics. Shame on you for expecting otherwise.”

Kennedy is concerned that if this administration completely screws up a natural disaster on the mainland, the GOP is going to hear about it at the polls. They’re clearly not prepared for this and have heard from the top that the plan is to pretend everything’s fine and hope for the best.

They haven’t asked Scott Walker to help yet; he has plenty of medicare fraud experience.

To your point

Both lack the necessary 60-vote supermajority to advance, and the Senate has voted previously to reject them.
