Per Ambassador James Story, in 2018, a member of Congress met with Maduro. During the meeting, a local councilman Fernando Orman was thrown off the el Helicoide rooftop (Venezuela’s torture center), run by Cabello, as a message to Maduro not to make any deals with the gringos without Cabello.
Now, how exactly are we going to “rule” Venezuela with guys like this still in power? Even if Delcy Eloína Rodríguez Gómez wanted to cooperate, I’m pretty sure she values her life more than the US.

this is how a forever war begins. First we will put in a few advisors to help the CIA and then the number of advisors will grow and grow and we will build big air bases with barbed wire fences and lots of choppers to carry squads to kick down doors and the next stop will be 2040 with 50,000 American service men and women and 1,000,000 Venezuelans dead.
America, we have all been there and done this. We have the t-shirt. Who really wants to do this again?

Not the same person. Machado is a democratic opposition leader and a Nobel Peace Prize recipient. Delcy Rodriquez is a fascist follower of Hugo Chavez and Maduro. She is Maduro’s successor but in many ways a figurehead for a whole crime family of murderous thugs. The difference between Maduro and Rodriquez is that she is smarter and more Machiavellian. She was plotting to undermine Maduro for months and got Trump to remove him. Now Trump needs to deal with her directly, but she is WAY smarter and more cunning than Trump or Rubio or Miller - all evil but stupid people. This will not end well for the US.
