Republicans sounded the same note when they overturned the order, claiming that Kelly was depriving Kansans of their right to worship.

Since when do people need four walls and a roof, a church bell, and an crowd to worship? Especially when that crowd could lead to illness and death…

Bull.

In a sign of the times, justices heard the lawyers’ oral arguments on Saturday via a Zoom teleconference.

Unlike the five flaming hypocrites of the US supreme court, who met via teleconference to decide that Wisconsin voters had to stand in hours-long lines to vote in person, the Kansas supreme court made a decision consistent with their own practices.

absolutely right. “where ever two or three are gathered in my name…” and so on. No one needs a big house or big crowd to worship. Jesus in fact, warned AGAINST those (he named the Pharisees) who have to make public displays of their religion. This controversy is sadly consistent with the trend–especially strong in our heartland today-- to decide what political statement you want to make or what politically important behavior you prefer and then declare that it is the “Christian” thing to do. it must be, right? since these folks call themselves Christian.
This kind of thing certainly has occurred throughout our history, but it is SO oppressively strong right now that it sometimes.threatens to suffocate serious discussion.
This may be the purpose, of course.

not every church adhered to the order

And the Lord said:
Don’t render a damn thing to Caesar. Render everything instead to self-annointed clergy. They have absolute power. Even more than I’ve got! I gave you free will. Sucks to be Me.

For some people, it is not enough to worship; they must be seen to worship.

Just wait until LLC goes to the supreme Kangaroo Kourt…where Kavbeernaugh can deliver for the RethugniCON nefarious agenda like he did with Wisconsin!

Addendum:

The court also will hear arguments by teleconference in a case over the complex U.S. presidential election system focusing on whether Electoral College electors are free to break their pledges to back the candidate who wins their state’s popular vote.

Isn’t that kinda, I dunno, stupid, considering that TX already has a lot of cases?

Not to mention the probably thousands of Louisianans who cross the border every day…

One thing is Democratic Gov. Laura Kelly defeated her Republican opponet Kris KKKobach rather handily in November 2018. If Kobach had won the state will still be living in Brownbackian/Laffer curve bankruptcy and Kobach would be following Trump’s lead (or lack therof) on everything, including COVID 19 and things would be much worse than they are. So we got that “right”.

Matthew 6:5:
“And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites
are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and
in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men.
Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.”
