There’s no way for Mitch to do this as he doesn’t control the chamber. It’s why their opposition to KBJ was limited to whining and soundbites. Biden gets to nominate whoever he wants, and nominees will be confirmed, at least through early January 2023.
Hear! Hear!
Nope. The Dems control the Senate, end of story.
I’m afraid that after 10 am ET, we will have even more trouble breathing, and the Earth is crying.
Here’s one of the simptoms of this disease:
In his confirmation hearings to become Chief Justice, John Roberts said: “You go to a case like the Lochner case, you can read that opinion today and it’s quite clear that they’re not interpreting the law, they’re making the law.” He added that the Lochner court substituted its own judgment for the legislature’s findings.
The Lochner era, I can’t help but think the same will be said of the Roberts era. SCOTUS is really fucked up these days.
We could only wish the Roberts court were guided by one terrible ideology.
Civil War between separate branches of government, maybe.
So the wealthy can have more, exclusively.
The real war is secret, the one on the street is fake.
But she was shrill!
because he’s a sympleton?
Ies, exactli!
Looking forward to Jackson on the court. Hopefully she’ll be the least conservative judge on the current court? Short of that, it would be hard to be to the right of any of the anti-abortionists there.
IANAL nor are the vast majority of Americans who are pissed. What they see is that THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS SETTLED LAW! I wish the Left would get that through their thick skulls. The law is what a majority of justices say it is.
They’ve adopted Caligula’s dictum: “Let them hate me, as long as they fear me.”
Depends on the mid terms right? No way anyone gets confirmed if the GOP takes over. Personally I think the CW is way wrong. Between the Committee and Roe, people are going to vote overwhelmingly against Republicans if not for Democrats.
If GOP takes over (god forbid), those representatives aren’t sat until January. Someone could absolutely be confirmed between November and then. Schumer would be foolish not to, given what Mitch has done previously.
It’s painful to see the conservative plan come together. For years, they have been using our apathy and cynicism as weapons. To that end, the Democrat voters bear some responsibility for what is happening to our democracy. Not voting for Hillary based on the loud, petty objections repeated by Republicans; not voting thereby giving away Congressional seats; allowing state and local government to be overrun by conspiracy theorists and racists. I really hope our young citizens realize that democracy matters, learn how government works, and commit to doing their part to make it work for all. The Republicans have exploited ignorance, fear and apathy to take away our freedoms and our safety. I hope Democrat voters become a more engaged, critical thinking electorate before we lose all semblance of democracy.
Yeah, although I wish Schumer were a better tactician. I still haven’t forgiven him for his cowardice on the Iran treaty. He coulda been a contenda.
Good that the MSM is shifting to the Dems holding the Senate.
