Jury Enters Day Two Of Deliberations In Rittenhouse Murder Trial

Reminder: Prosecution Declined To Comment After Jury Reaches Verdict

Remind me why we need this particular reminder?

This is why I spend too much time in the TPM comments sections.

Botching the jury instructions was another strike against.

  1. Summer needed to write something for the liveblog.

  2. Once the acquittal comes in, lets everyone know you can just switch over to CNN for live coverage of the rioters and looters (CNN will just pay actors if necessary to create the riot if, like usual, reporters outnumber any regular folks out there).

He stumbled reading some of the instructions? BFD. Happens to all of them, every time. And as far as I could tell, in the clip everyone was posting as OMG he’s so awful, he stopped reading because the instruction used “and” where it should have said “or.”

Set that bar high.

My first thought was actually “Slow news day already?,” but I saw that she had posted something right before and after.

From a different thread.

While we’re on Rittenhouse, has anyone heard about any of the cops who let him pass through their lines while carrying an AR15 being held accountable?
Didn’t think so.

ETA. Second question. Are Kenosha city and county police open to liability lawsuits because the permitted (encouraged?) Rittenhouse through their lines?

Rittenhouse’s defense team files motion for mistrial with prejudice. Doesn’t sound like they’re very optimistic for an acquittal.

You’re right! The LBGTQ community took ownership of most of the derogative terms, disempowering those that continued to use them. Now all we need is for Biden himself to make some comment that includes Brandon and it dies immediately.

Wouldn’t throw too many. It was filed yesterday, it’s just the formal follow-up to their request from Thursday.

Would be almost malpractice to not do it, since the judge deferred ruling on the motion.

I’m all for it. The wingnuts would say this is another example of senility, but they say that about everything so why not.

It would practically be malpractice not to pursue that motion. Not that the judge is at all likely to grant it.

And if the jurors come back with a serious jail time conviction will the judge just thank the jurors … and that would be it? I bet he’s already researched his options. Putting on my seatbelt.

I do not know what the jury is going to do…but I am surprised it is taking this long. It would seem that an acquittal would have come sooner. Maybe they are actually deliberating.
