Judges Hold The Line On Trump's Attacks On Big Law

How can someone make code for something when they do not understand the details?

I would assume this will go about as well as the that self-driving thing that Elon was developing in Tesla.

Trump’s actions led to the deaths of several hundred thousand people in 2020. He was telling the truth that he could shoot someone on 5th avenue and his voters would still back him.

We should be calling out what Trump/Musk is doing by its name. Eugenics. Genocide. Cuts to medical and social assistance programs will result in suffering and early death to ‘others’. Seniors, children, the disabled, LGBTQ+, racial minorities, women. Death by 1000 cuts, or the first step to forced labour and extermination. If history is a guide. Oh wait, they’re erasing history too.

There are mornings, like this one, when I check the news and have to remind myself: the country has a cancer, and half of us are rooting for the cancer.

Time for more coffee and work before I go see how far my retirement savings have dwindled. Are we great again yet?

Not all history. Just the history that doesn’t confirm white men as the ultimate source of everything good and not responsible for anything bad.

I want to put an historic pin into this point.

When Bush II and Dick Cheney mainlined torture into US policy, I assumed that would change the American psych, for those that tortured, and those that witnessed, including the public. I will assert that the Trump administration policy of cruelty is the logical consequence of the slippery slope the previous Republican administrations created.

Third terms for POTUS are only available to white men, and have an R after their name.

Heading out for coffee with a friend. Would Hogsbreath allow me, or anyone at the Naval Academy, to order “Coffee, black”?

Too DEI for him?

WaPo: “President Donald Trump on Sunday declined to rule out seeking a third presidential term — an unconstitutional act explicitly barred under the 22nd Amendment — saying that ‘there are methods which you could do it.'”

Sure, coup d’etat quickly comes to mind.

The article below from 2020 surfaced on a link from Emptywheel at Bluesky. It’s about the reasons COBOL is used for financial and other critical systems, and why it’s insane that Musk and his DOGE boyz are being allowed to touch the Social Security systems. Long read but worth it when you have time.

The Code That Controls Your Money

COBOL is a coding language older than Weird Al Yankovic. The people who know how to use it are often just as old. It underpins the entire financial system. And it can’t be removed. How a computer language controls the financial life of the world.

Why would anyone want to hire a law firm that won’t defend its own constitutional rights?
