A federal judge ruled Wednesday that Georgia does not have to restore nearly 200,000 voters to the rolls for the runoff, though he admitted that there may be “discrepancies” in records used to show that those voters had moved out of the state.
that they failed to prove that the rolls were purged with a discriminatory aim.
Simply proves that he has not been paying attention… I don’t care if he’s an Obama judge, he is definitely not up on the current practices of the Republican party… OF COURSE they were purged with a discriminatory aim.
You’ve got it mixed up. This is evidence of voter suppression, which is a good and noble thing according to current GOP policy.
Voter fraud is the millions of voters who cast votes for Joe Biden, which is an awful thing that occurred and is making millions of MAGA people feel bad and disenfranchised.
So given all the factors that are known: of the 200k purged, the approximate number were identified that should not have been urged has been calculated, it’s acknowledged that a lot of those impacted re-registered due to a successful communication effort. Why not order registration be reopened for anyone still on that list for a period of 10 days or so? Direct communication efforts could be made and a very narrow allowance to at least help further repair this specific issue.
I find it a little refreshing to be back in the land of standard GA voter suppression - it is a harbinger of a return to our regular and awful normalcy in Republican controlled states.
I take voting very seriously. So every 6 months pr so between elections I call our recorder’s office to make damn sure they have my registration correct. I called in September this time around just to be sure no shenanigans were afoot.
The judge was picked by Obama, not the Federalist Society. IANAL but it’s possible that the plaintiffs didn’t prove their case. Hard to tell from the article.
