The answer is by fighting “bothsideism” or false equivalences".
Mostly it involves saying and not backing down when “this is not that”.
That is there is a difference between following the law and allowing Trump to hide his taxes, delay legal proceedings through grand juries, stopping people from voting by using a poll tax, and so on and so on.

I currently have two big cases in front of this judge. He is extremely patient, fair, and takes the time to do the necessary legal research on complicated issues of law. This bodes very well for future actions of this nature against would-be public officials who participated in J6.

When he’s tried and convicted, preferably before the November 2024 election.
He would still be eligible for a second run at the Presidency because the slack Constitutional requirements override other laws about felons in office. The R’s in the Senate twice refused the only Constitutional bar to public office by failing to convict in the impeachment trials.
As a practical matter though, a conviction with jail sentence on the documents case, the fake electors scheme, or the Capitol break-in would put an end to it for all practical purposes.

So many on-lookers think back at the start of the journey of a genuine authoritarian and whine that he could have been stopped.

This could be huge in that the events that transpired on 1/6 has officially been recognized as an insurrection or rebellion against the US government….maybe for the first time? Hopefully, this guy will be the first of many dominos to fall.
