You’re right, It is brighter.
As far as pronouns go, I use the tried and true, “hey, you,” when addressing a non-binary, or a binary.
That’s pretty much my dad’s side of the family. He was born in the early 30s, on their farm, not at a hospital. He had several siblings, and many that did not survive infancy. My grandparents were from around the Wichita Falls area and migrated over the border to SW OK. My dad was a sickly child and confined to bed for a couple of years growing up and his mother taught him to knit to pass the time. My Grandma was uneducated but wise. She was always throwing out phrases like “bare as a bird’s foot.” I also heard her using incredibly racist language when Sammy Davis Jr. met Dinah Shore with a kiss on her show on the black and white TV one afternoon and it made me uncomfortable.
They lost the farm during the dust bowl. Instead of California, they went to Tulsa, which is in the NE of the state and much different geographically (for gardeners, I-35 is a sort of a dividing line for gardeners, East the soil trends acidic, West is alkaline). Tulsa was doing relatively well at the time because of the oil.
There are a lot of tangles family histories in OK, mostly whispered about, rarely discussed. Pioneer Woman? She married into the Drummond family. I knew a couple of them from my fraternity days. They were Betas. They were not Farm House (an actual fraternity at my school). They are not really Plantagenets.
We know how that works. If you sign your name to the pleadings, you’re responsible for it. No pity.
No, none. Might be a tense meeting in the corner office. Clicking around a bit, I found a link indicating the firm was involved in some of the post-11/20 voter suppression litigation.
My grandmother hated TransAms and drove a Camaro. It wasn’t the car. It was that my uncle saw Smokey and the Bandit and bought a TransAm the next day.
IOW, it’s not a real firm, it’s something cobbled together for political causes and funded by benefactors they wish were wealthier.
Dunno - looks like the first-named partner has some props (one-time Acting Assistant AG). Rank speculation, but this may be among those shops whose members regularly attend local and state GOP fundraisers, Federalist Society luncheons, etc. and dole out their cards (figuratively, at least), there being no end of ostensibly well-heeled Trumpeters with an axe to grind, or running afoul of the law (although they probably knew Lindell was not in such good straits - retainer?). Was seeing such firms emerge around the time TCF’s “just find me the votes” call in GA came to light.
I read two articles and I still can’t figure that out…except he requested an audit of a municipality’s wastewater system. I think? And he is supposedly an ambitious and wealthy white Dem male.
But it appears to be a very timely example of how Dems and their unofficial mouthpieces destroy themselves electorally; based around identity politics that hurts us and gives the Rs unlimited ammo to use against us.
Also, a perfect example of how our D party and elected officials get tarred with our lefty activist and influencers actions - rather than what D policy and official action warrants. We need to understand that what our social media ‘friends’ and influencers and social justice warriors do and say is MUCH more visible and consumed than what our party is actually doing on policy and governance. Everything we do is mischaracterized and weaponized by the RW…from social media right up thru RW officialdom and into the WH…so providing them with unlimited ammo and 1000 self-inflicted wounds and less-than-helpful outbursts is our #1 problem. We have to first stop decimating ourselves if we ever hope to win the all-consuming media wars.
So she watched someone steal from her and proceeded to do and say absolutely nothing to anyone?? Was she scared? Drunk? Asleep?
Or did she see leap at the opportunity to be a victim. And lets assume this was a White US citizen b/c no one has said the suspect was black or undocumented.
I mean, this is the head of homeland security right? The ones with the “if you see something, say something” posters???
Someone on BlueSky has “it/that” as their pronouns.
I wish I thought of that.
I ran training for U.S. Intellectual Property practice for mostly Asians: Japanese, Chinese, Koreans. The initial contact would be a letter of application. If they didn’t include a gender, I would just reply addressing them as Dr.
You’re thinking of that right now! I’m sure wherever that is, it feels the ethereal love that comes from all of us thinking of that at the same time!
Seems important!

Lee Kovarsky’s Bluesky thread on this is worth the read.
interest in a habeas petition?
Great point, but I feel it all comes down to perception. As you stated in one of your posts…we don’t really think avg. voters know much about actual policy. And in this hyper-media world…it is all about perception and branding and WHAT YOU LEAD WITH. It comes down to repetition and whittling your message down to simplest terms and repeating it. The D party is nearly silent and all the leftish activists and influencers and agitators make the most noise and define Dems rather than the other way around.
I am fine with Dems being clear that they are for civil rights that protect everyone, including marginalized folks. But that will never work if you can’t appeal to the majority in order to get elected. And what ends up being the message from the left is that they view the majority as the enemy, the perps, even evil…and they attack them with the most explosive terms that can be used. Disqualifying terms. Career ending terms. And the minute someone else on the left or Dem side disagrees in the slightest…they aim those terms at their own side, their allies.
Newsom and Whitmer are good examples…any whiff of non-purity invokes instant hatred and vilification and cancellation. Even though they are perhaps our most successful and appealing, viable champions.

Sen. Rosalind Osgood (D-Tamarac) appeared to come to Pizzo’s defense, saying she was “deeply sorrowful for my other colleague who’s being called out in an unfair way.”
“What we’re not going to do is hate each other and call each other names which are inappropriate,” she said.
…
But Democratic feelings throughout Florida remained raw. Former DNC member Nikki Barnes blasted Pizzo on X Wednesday night after he made the “suck it” remark.
“Black Miami is now against you and within a few days all the Black influential organizers will be on the same page across the entire state,” she wrote.
“NO DEMOCRAT in Florida can win a statewide primary without Black voters. It’s over for you.”
After he made the announcement Thursday that he’s leaving the party, Barnes wrote, “Don’t let the door hit you in your racist ass @senpizzo!!!”
Next up, Ensign or Blondi or will contend it’s completely reasonable for immigrants to keep a fill-in-the-blanks habeas petition boilerplate on their smartphones.
I hear you, man. I’m afraid I’m an analog cowboy in a digital world.
100% agree. We need to tighten up our ship, show unified messaging in public, and fight party battles behind closed doors, not in the media.
In the first paragraph, you had mentioned letting leagues and individuals work problems out as they occur. IMO, that does not adequately protect anyone’s constitutionally guaranteed civil rights.
The article did not say the attorneys are resigning from the State Bar, just the Bar Association. Membership in most state bar associations is voluntary.
