This administration seems intent to take a defiant stand on every hill, bump, or slightly raised point. They never concede anything for any reason, and pursue everything with relentless, amoral fever.

Trump’s MO. Even when he does give up, he claims victory. But he wants to make the win so odious his opponents give up. I am getting the distinct impression though that he is going into a different mode. Circling the wagons, staying belligerent to everything regardless because he has no where to go otherwise. It is not quite last stand mode, but it feels like it is building.
The Republicans have got to be restless now. He is stepping well past what I think they can be comfortable with. He is leading them in to sanctioning actual murder. Many of the things he is doing or proposing is exactly what they said the Democrats would do. But there it is, on the front page, in their name. And their people are asking questions. Meanwhile they have to be realizing if he can do this to anyone, that means them as well.
The moment their wall breaks, he is done for as the rest of the Republicans save themselves.
I would not be surprised if he bricked up the windows at the White House at this point.

I’ve heard Trump’s compared to Liberace’s decor, but I think that’s unfair to Liberace. He was “meta” before the word had been coined (via ancient Greek). He was self-aware while also truly enjoying himself and the surroundings he’d created for himself.

Does anyone know what “proof of life” the Trump administration is offering? I certainly hope it is not just their word. I don’t believe there is any way you can take anything said by any Trump official as the truth.

Agreed. IANAL, but I think some of those strip-mall ambulance chasers and Fed Soc Nazis are gonna think twice about lying under oath. Spineless John Roberts may have given Donnie a magic-everything pardon… but that don’t extend to his enablers.
It’s also why I think the WH stance vacillates between accelerated defiance or absolute know-nothing foot-dragging: because those same ambulance chasers and Fed Soc Nazis know that, if the dam breaks (or holds? mixing my metaphors), and ONE lawyer either flips to testify, or gets cited for Contempt and yanked into a holding cell, a whole shit-ton or shower of fellow assholes might do likewise.
It’s why I think, behind the psychotic hatred (Miller), potato-faced fascism (Homan), cross-eyed overreach (Patel), and bottle-blonde Nazi Barbie action (Leavitt and Bondi), those assholes are terrified. If we get 6M+ into the streets on April 19, if Bernie & AOC continue to draw mid-5-figure crowds in RED STATES, if van Hollen (dog bless him for a brave man), Booker (a giant), and the other stand-up Dems come back from El Salvador with a report and pictures, I think the walls will start falling, and Trumpistas will start fleeing and getting squashed.
