Judge Orders Eric Trump To Testify Before Election Day In Trump Org Probe | Talking Points Memo

Whew! I thought that it was just me.

I’m also not a lawyer, but I believe that SCOTUS rulings cannot be appealed.

So, the grifter mob known as the Trump Clan decided Eric would take the tumble on behalf of the family, maybe a couple of years at most, and daddy will of course pardon him if re-elected. If not, he’s been promised the royal treatment within the family from now on…

Or not. Since he will always be a useful idiot as far as The Donald is concerned…

Meanwhile, I find all this a bit strange. In that it’s only Eric Trump on the firing line, since Don Jr. and Ivanka are/were also executives for the Trump Org, no? Not to mention that the president is now and always has been giving the orders re: the Trump Org…

Not a problem! I just call them Thing 1 and Thing 2. No one ever makes it an issue.

Seems to me Low Barr is already doling out the punishments, declaring NYC an “anarchy” city, whatever the fuck that means, as an excuse to cut off federal funding.

I’m sure it connects directly to this and other ongoing lawsuits.

Do not besmirch Dr Seuss’ creations with Beavis and Butthhead, or the Cat in the Hat will sneak up on you in the middle of the night give you a swipe with his claws.

Where did Cornholio fit in?

Um, I know four of them:

  1. Slip out the back, Jack.
  2. Make a new plan, Stan.
  3. Hop on the bus, Gus.
  4. Drop off the key, Lee.

What are the other forty-six?

No, but you can try. There are lots of things that you can’t appeal. You can’t appeal anything that was a mistake made during a trial unless you preserve that appeal by objecting on the right basis. And if you plead guilty you theoretically waive all errors and rights of appeal. There are motions and other things that you can’t appeal. And there are statutory time tables involved for filing notices of appeal and other things, and if you don’t meet them the appellate court doesn’t have jurisdiction.

But you can try just the same.

Until now, Eric probably thought that he had been named Executive Vice President of the Trump Organization because dear old dad had faith in him. Now he gets to learn that it is so he will be the one under the bus.

I don’t expect Trump to actually choose Barrett. He’ll more likely pick someone like Naomi Rae, with an NDA and Loyalty Pact in writing to ‘keep her honest’. She’s much more a true believer in Trump, who could probably care less what Barrett’s actual judicial record is. Only whether she will vote favorably on his cases…

That or the Cuban judge in Florida, so he can “seal the deal” on winning Florida. I don’t think it will work, but we can allow him his delusions of grandeur for a few weeks longer…

This is about the workings of the Trump Organization, and he damn sure does care about that.

Yep…and I probably should have been clearer. You can certainly appeal discovery decisions, which is what this was, BUT (a) doing so on an interlocutory basis is really not going to fly procedurally and (b) once you do have a final judgment and CAN appeal a discovery decision that was made, it is near impossible to win because of the amount of discretion left to the trial court judge to manage the pre-trial procedures including discovery. Even a Trump toady like Rao would have trouble coming up with a justification to save face overturning this decision…but hey, toadies like Rao don’t give a fuck about saving face because they’re only on the bench to serve the interests of a few and consider the judges not part of the partisan club serving the plutocracy to be irrelevant.

That’s Eric’s alter ego, the shrewd businessman.

arguing that he did not want his deposition to be used “for political purposes.”

So, what particular political office is Eric running for?

Yeah it gets more complex in civil cases by far. And I agree with your comment.
