Object permanence is the understanding that objects continue to exist even when they cannot be sensed. This is a fundamental concept studied in the field of developmental psychology, the subfield of psychology that addresses the development of young children’s social and mental capacities. Eastman relying on his own affidavit risks Trump throwing him under the bus, as he has been known to do from time to time. I would make the attempt to get something from Trump. He might be incentivized to do so because this is his last means of keeping a bunch of new coup-related documents out of the hands of the committee.
Billie Barr, bolted just in time while yelling “Katie, bar the door.” Of course, he forgot to warn the Feds and the Capitol Police. Speaking of Katie, wouldn’t you just love to have Katie Porter put Barr to the quiz?
In other legal news, the jury ruled in favor of the New York Times in the Palin libel suit. This means she was wandering around New York City without a mask for no good reason.
Moi, I find both parties to be assholes, so there was no one to really root for.
Yeah, that refreshes my recollection - but here, isn’t Eastman the plaintiff, inserting himself in the Committee’s investigative process by commencing a civil judicial action so as to assert a purported privilege - and as such, charged with establishing the privilege’s elements? If he made the prior characterization in testimony or written submittal to a disciplinary body, shouldn’t that be available to counsel for the Committee as an “admission of a party opponent?”
That’s unfair. It did get her somewhere. The Federal District Judge Linda Parker, in Michigan, took “judicial notice” of that filing and used that to help frame her decision about sanctions in the Michigan Kraken Lawsuit. I think it’s fair to say that that at least helped put her in front of a disciplinary board in Texas, I think.
