There isn’t much in our government that can be trusted. As a kid and young guy I trusted our leaders to do the right thing by us. Then I saw my friends come home from Vietnam in body bags. That changed my opinions. Maybe I am too cynical in my old age.
There is one friend I completely trust but he lives far away. Then there’s Mrs darr who has my heart. And our son and grandson. That’s it.

DoJ, and government lawyers generally, are reflexively arrogant, overreaching and unbending about the deliberative process privilege without regard to who’s president.

This bears all the earmarks of careerists whose half-assery and arrogant corner cutting blew up in their faces when the judge ordered in camera review. And because it was half-assery that looked like deception, they just kept digging because the truth-“we half-assed around and got caught”-is both more damning than continued obfuscation and, under the circumstances, less believable.

The DoJ isn’t going to discipline them until the case is finally resolved, but once it is, they’re in the shit. They made the Department look bad, put Garland and, by extension, the president in an invidious position and didn’t confess their sin soon enough for Justice to mitigate the damage.
